On August 17, 2007, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Tan Xiuying and Ms. Zhang Haiqin from Shijiazhuang City were illegally arrested. They are now being held in the 4th Ward of the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Tan Xiuying was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor. The length of Ms. Zhang Haiqin's forced labor term is unknown.
According to insiders, when Ms. Tan went out to clarify the facts of the persecution before her arrest, a man in his forties approached her and began to communicate with her. He condemned the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and decided to quit the evil CCP and its affiliated organizations. Also, he said that he wanted to learn the truth about Falun Gong, read the books and do the exercises. Ms. Tan Xiuying believed him and gave him her phone number.
Later on he phoned Ms. Tan to ask for copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and Zhuan Falun. He also said that he wanted to go to Ms. Tan's home. Because Ms. Tan's mother strongly opposed his visit, it did not take place. On August 17, he phoned Ms. Tan again and said that he wanted her to teach him the exercises. Because he is of the opposite sex, Ms. Tan asked practitioner Ms. Zhang Haiqin to go with her. After meeting with him, they were led to a narrow alley. Ms. Tan thought there was something strange about this. She noticed that as soon as he made a gesture, three or four plainclothes officers pounced on them. Ms. Tan tried to resist the attack, but was bruised in the process.
The same day of her arrest, several dozen officers from the Qiaodong District Police Department in Shijiazhuang City broke into Ms. Tan's house and ransacked it. As soon as head officers Wang Wei and Zhao Xin entered her home, they ordered the others to search each room and all the corners, including the balcony, kitchen, and toilet. They confiscated a portable computer, a CD recorder, an all-in-one copy-scanning machine, a printer, a satellite TV reception system, and some copies of Falun Gong materials. In addition, they extorted 3,600 yuan in cash from her. (Later, when her family went to get the confiscated things back, the authorities returned 3,200 yuan and a receipt that included a 160-yuan "washing" fee and 400-yuan bedding fee.)
Ms. Tan Xiuying was held at the No. 2 Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City. Twenty days later, Ms. Tan was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor and taken to the 4th Ward of the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp.
Ms. Zhang Haiqin was also sentenced to forced labor.
Ms. Tan Xiuying was subjected to torture twice while in that detention center. At the first interrogation session, to prevent her from shouting "Falun Gong is good," "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is good," "Quit the Party, the Youth League and Young Pioneers to secure your lives," female guard Yan Lingxia grabbed Ms. Tan's cheeks, making them red and swollen. When Yan Lingxia worked at the No. 1 Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City, she always beat Ms. Tan Xiuying when she was held there.
Ms. Tan Xiuying did not cooperate and held their so-called "note" during the second interrogation session. Therefore, a large guard from the No. 2 Detention Center savagely hit Ms. Tan on the chin. She was stunned and tumbled to the ground. She got dirty, her chin turned blue and red from being struck, and blood trickled from the corners of her mouth and tongue. That evening at roll call, the practitioners in her cell explained her situation to the guard on duty, but the guard disregarded it. Ms. Tan was dizzy all night. She still felt that way a week later when she was transferred to the forced labor camp, and she also had pain in her left ear.

On May 14, 2007, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hao Yijing, an employee of the Qingyang City Changqing Transport Office in Gansu Province, went to her hometown of Xunyang County, Shaanxi Province to visit her parents-in-law with her husband Mr. Yang Caizhi. During this period, because she read Falun Gong books, did the exercises, and clarified the truth to her family members, she was reported to police by her father-in-law. She was promptly arrested by the police from the local station. Later, she was taken to the Xunyang County Police Department and detained there. Around May 20, 2007, Ms Hao Yijing was taken back by police from the Yucai Road Station of Changqing City Police Department in Gansu Province. At the Yucai Road Police Station she was tortured in order to gain a confession. Her house was then ransacked and she was extorted out of 6,018 Yuan. In order to encourage her family to pay the fee, the police released Ms. Hao. Later, on May 30, 2007, Ms. Hao was again arrested and detained at the Xifeng District Detention Center in Qingyang City. She was again mercilessly tortured.
During the period of her arrest, Wang Bin (male), Zhang Feng (male) from the Qingyang City Police Department, Min Liang (male), and the driver An Ming (male) from the Yucai Road Police Station went to Ms. Hao's house several times to extort more money from her family. They said once the family paid the money, Ms. Hao would be released. Mr. Yang Caizhi, Ms. Hao's husband, is handicapped. He was involved in a car accident where his right eye, head and lower back were severely injured. Because of his condition, he is often absent minded and thus could not judge this situation well. In addition, he was eager to rescue his wife. He believed what the police officers said and gave officer An Ming all the cash (49,600 yuan in total) that the whole family had been saving. The money was then lavishly spent on personal luxuries by agents from Changqing City Police Department and the Qingyang City Police Department. But even now Ms. Hao has not been released. Instead, on July 7, 2007, Mr. Yang Caizhi received a warrant for his wife's arrest from Changqing City Police Department.
Mr. Yang gave these people 55,618 Yuan in total and got nothing but an arrest warrant. He was given only one receipt for 16,018 Yuan. Every time officer An Ming took money, Mr. Yang wrote down the details, including the date and amount. However, Mr. Yang was later required to hand these records to Zhang Xiaoping from Changqing City Police Department. When Mr. Yang went to ask Zhang for these records, he was refused.

On the afternoon of September 8, 2007, Falun Gong practitioner Wang Dexian from Longmen Village in Laishui Town, Hebei Province was arrested when he clarified the truth. He was then detained in Laishui Detention Center. The policeman threatened that they would send him to a forced labor camp. Around three o'clock in the afternoon on July 24, 2007, Deputy Director of Longmen Village Police Station Zhang Tao, Zhang Jianlong, and Zhang Aijun broke into Mr. Wang's home and searched it. Mr. Wang escaped with righteous thoughts.
Mr. Wang Dexian, 53 years old, is a teacher at Linqingsi Middle School, Hebei Laishui Town. He is an excellent artist. His works of sculpture are known for their vividness and detail, and his calligraphy is also quite unique. He often volunteered to decorate people's windows or doors. The local people respected and liked him very much. He is not only a good artist, but also a good musician. He plays string and wind instruments very well, and he can make traditional instruments by hand. For his work in the middle school, he takes on twice the workload and teaches different courses. He treats his students very well. His students consider him a great teacher and a friend.
In 2005, Mr. Wang was sentenced to forced labor camp by the Laishui Town 610 Office agents. He was tortured at Baoding Forced Labor Camp until he could not take care of himself. In November 2003, Li Dayong, the director of the Baoding camp, tortured Mr. Wang for seven days. He bound Mr. Wang on a freezing cold bed. The confinement room was extremely cold, and Mr. Wang was not able to move, which resulted in the atrophy of his leg. He was then unable to walk normally. He developed osteo-proliferation and protruding lumbar vertebra. He was not treated in the Baoding Forced Labor Camp, which affected his ability to walk. Director Li Dayong did not allow him to get treatment and forced him to sleep on a cold floor. He forced Mr. Wang to stay in confinement and further assaulted him.
On May 10, 2004, Baoding Forced Labor Camp implemented a policy of forced "transformation" so that the guards could then severely persecute practitioners. The guards put about 20 male practitioners in a very dark place on the fourth floor. Each practitioners was put in a room so small that he was unable to move. The director of the guards, Liu Yuesheng, shocked the practitioners with electric batons to force them to give up their beliefs. The guards also used electric batons to shock practitioners' private parts. Those practitioners suffered tremendous agony. Mr. Wang was shocked on every part of his body. His screams of pain were heard on every floor in the building.
Mr. Wang's mother is already over 80 years old. She has had a stroke and cannot move one side of her body. School officials forced Mr. Wang's daughter to drop out of school. His younger daughter is a young child who needs constant care. Mr. Wang's wife must bear the burden of these responsibilities alone. They have endured terribly harsh times.
Before Mr. Wang was sentenced to forced labor, he spoke about "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance" and told people about Falun Gong's goodness. The principal of Linqing Middle School Liu Tiecheng withheld 200 yuan from Mr. Wang's salary. After Mr. Wang was put in the labor camp, his salary was paid as an I.O.U. or not given at all. Mr. Wang was later laid off by Liu Tiecheng.
This state of affairs plus constant police surveillance greatly disturbed Mr. Wang's elder daughter. The huge mental pressure caused her to attempt suicide. Fortunately, her family found her in time and saved her.
At around 3:00 p.m. on July 24, 2007, Longmen Township deputy police chief Zhang Tao, along with Policemen Zhang Jianlong, and Zhang Aijun broke into Mr. Wang's home. They searched it for around one and a half hours and took about 300-yuan worth of items. Zhang Tao ordered other policemen to handcuff Mr. Wang, but Mr. Wang escaped. Zhang Tao still tried to find him. He further threatened Mr. Wang's wife and daughters.
