  • New Zealand: Audience Moved by the Performance of Divine Performing Arts

Divine Performing Arts from New York brought the first two shows in New Zealand to Auckland on April 5, 2007. The audience responded warmly to the performance and thanked the artists with long-lasting rounds of applause at curtain calls, as the artists bowed to the audience three times.

People from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Maori, Sri Lanka and other places of the Pacific region enjoyed the show. Throughout the show, the audience expressed their recognition of divine culture in accordance with their own cultures. In particular, the dance “Creation” received the audience's warm applause.

Ms. Robin Lewis, a lady from Whangarei, took her four granddaughters to the show. She praised the beautiful performance, costumes, hair decorations and dance movements. She came to see the show after hearing about it from a newspaper. She said, “I want to give my grandchildren a beautiful memory that they will remember for life.”

Mr. Chen from Taiwan told the reporter, “I nearly shed tears when I saw the dance 'Creation'.” He said excitedly that he would like to find a ticket for the evening show so that he could watch it again.

Waitomo Mayor Mark Ammon told the reporter that he loved the program, especially the last performance, “A Dunhuang Dream.”

Philip Crown is a leader of the Maori tribes, and he has made great efforts in spreading traditional culture. He told the reporter that he thought all of the performances were great. He especially like the Erhu performance and “A Dunhuang Dream.” He said that there were stories about Buddha in Maori tribes, too. He showed a great understanding of the stories in the show. It was the first time that he had heard about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. He was very saddened and didn't know such things were still happening. He said that he had learned the true story of Falun Gong.

Renowned writer Ms. Liu Weijuan said that it was a great show and that she would recommend it to many people.

Tenor Guan Guimin of Divine Performing Arts said that they had given the performance more than seventy times, and the audience was moved to tears in every show. This year's show is different from the past in how moving it is for the audience. It was because they saw the spirit of the 5000-year Chinese culture, experienced the true beauty and the true compassion, and were brought to deep thought. It was a very special show. He hopes many more people would be able to experience it.

Chinese Consulate's Interference Ended Up Promoting the Show

Divine Performing Arts has received congratulations from ministers, political party leaders, consuls and mayors. The show was a highly anticipated event. The Chinese Communist Party attempted to block the show by indecent means. Some mayors in the Auckland area had received phone calls from the Chinese Consulate, asking them not to attend the show. After these attempts were exposed, Divine Performing Arts became a topic of discussion for many people in Auckland.

On April 5, Green Party MP and spokesperson for Foreign Affairs Keith Locke wrote a letter to the sponsor of Divine Performing Arts to congratulate them on the upcoming show and condemn the interference by the CCP. MP Locke wished Divine Performing Arts great success in Auckland and that they would be free from outside interference.

MP Locke was strongly against the pressure that the Chinese Consulate had exerted on the local community leaders. He said that they lived in a democratic society. He was strongly opposed to attempts by foreign agents to stop them from watching an art performance.

Former MP of United Future NZ Party Bernie Ogilvy said that New Zealand was a free country. Everyone had the right to decide what he wanted to do. It was not China. The founder of Tiangle TV James Blackman went to the show in Tang Dynasty attire. He told the reporter that his TV station had received interference from the Chinese Consulate many times, asking them to stop carrying Falun Gong programs.

TV One reported about Falun Gong and Divine Performing Arts twice in prime time. The interference from the CCP ended up giving Divine Performing Arts more attention. A local resident said that he went to watch the show after hearing about how the Chinese Consulate tried to stop mayors from going to the show.

The last show in Auckland ended at 10 p.m. on April 5. The whole group of performers answered curtain calls amidst warm applause. The next stop of their touring performance will be Taiwan.

Canada: Evidence of the Chinese Embassy Interfering with NTDTV Exposed

On April 4, 2007, Ms. Zhang Jiyan, the wife of a Chinese diplomat at the Chinese Embassy in Canada, exposed a document to the media. The document showed that the Chinese Embassy tried to interfere with NTDTV's application to the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) for a permit to air in Canada. The President of NTDTV Canada Wang Shaojiu said that the CCP has been trying to undermine the operations of NTDTV, a legal enterprise in Canada, and now we have evidence with names of the CCP officials who are involved.

    Document from the Chinese Embassy

Ms. Zhou Limin, a spokeswoman for the Falun Dafa Association in Canada, said that the document verified that the Chinese Embassy has been systematically persecuting Falun Gong with elaborate plans. Wang Shaojiu said that the officials at the Chinese Embassy will have to be held accountable legally.

Ms. Zhang Jiyan, the wife of a Chinese diplomat at the Chinese Embassy in Canada, is a Falun Gong practitioner. In order to avoid persecution, she left the embassy on March 5 and made public her announcement of quitting the CCP at a rally held on March 30 in front of Parliament Hill.

The CCP's Ministry of Foreign Affairs ordered the Embassy to keep Chinese people from supporting NTDTV's Chinese New Year Gala.

Ms. Zhang Jiyan said that she saw a document a few years ago by chance. The document said that the CCP's Department of Foreign Affairs ordered the Chinese Embassy to keep Chinese people from supporting NTDTV's Chinese New Year Galas. According to the order, the Chinese Embassy was supposed to convince Chinese artists in Canada not to support, perform at or attend the galas.

Ms. Zhang made public a document showing that the Chinese Embassy tried to lobby the Canadian government to stop NTDTV from entering Canada and incited the local Chinese communities and Chinese students to write to the government against NTDTV. The document also shows that the Chinese Embassy mailed materials which slandered Falun Gong to governmental organizations.

Lobbying governmental departments to stop NTDTV from entering Canada

One of the documents that Ms. Zhang has is an official document entitled, "Results of the Investigation of NTDTV Trying to Enter Canada and the Results of the Lobbying Work." Huang Huikang, the Minister Counselor and Consul General, wrote personal notes on the document.

The first note left by Huang Huikang was written on March 25, 2003. It says: "I took actions right after the order was issued by the leader of the embassy. I conducted investigations and contacted the Canadian Cable Telecommunications Association, Rogers Cable TV Company, and the CRTC. I am now reporting the results. I suggest the embassy to contact the relevant departments in the Canadian government and prepare protest letters to relevant organizations."

Under this note, Huang Huikang wrote: "Send to Ambassador Lu Shumin. I will call a meeting next Monday to discuss next steps."

Inciting the Chinese communities and students to oppose NTDTV

A second document written by Huang Huikang was a brief report and working plan to an embassy official. The heads of the "political department", "Consular Section" and "Department of Education" read the note and left their notes. Huang said in the document: "According to the information I got, it is possible for us to destroy NTDTV's plan of entering Canada. I will take more actions."

Huang said: "I require the Department of Culture and Political Department to study the working plan." He suggested: "When it is necessary, we should ask the Chinese communities and Chinese students to write to the Canadian government to oppose NTDTV." He also asked the embassy to "mail the materials about Falun Gong to the relevant organizations and people. Request comments from Political Department (Consul General Sun Lushan), Consular Section (Consul General Jiang Yuansong) and Department of Education."

The Chinese Embassies are the bases of persecution of Falun Gong outside China

Ms. Zhang said that most officials at the Chinese Embassy don't want to persecute Falun Gong, except a few bad people. A friend of hers told her that he didn't want to persecute Falun Gong, so he refused to take on many tasks. In the last two years, seven officials and their family members have left the Chinese Embassy.

Ms. Zhang said that there is a "Political Research Office" consisting of ten staff members at the Chinese Embassy. The task of this office is to deal with democratic movement activists, Falun Gong, Free Tibet organizations and Taiwan independence movement activists. The office focuses on persecuting Falun Gong. Huang Huikang, the Minister Counselor and Consul General, persecutes Falun Gong while denying the persecution to the Canadian media.

Ms. Zhang said that as Chen Yonglin, a Chinese diplomat who left the Chinese Embassy in Australia in 2005, pointed out, the Chinese Embassies are the bases for the CCP to persecute Falun Gong outside China. The orders are issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs. In the last few years, the embassy has assigned two more diplomats to this office.

Ms. Zhang mentioned that the Ambassador told all the officials at a conference that he had sent materials to the Canadian Members of Parliament, government officials and former governor to attack Falun Gong.

Ms. Zhou Limin, a spokesman for the Falun Dafa Association in Canada, said: "Based on this document, we can see a glimpse of how the Chinese Embassy has been persecuting Falun Gong in the last seven years. Although the document only shows how they interfered with the operation of NTDTV, we can tell that the persecution of Falun Gong overseas has been systematic, well-organized and well-planned for a long time."

Ms. Zhou Limin said: "The Chinese Embassy creates blacklists of Falun Gong practitioners, taps their phones, harasses them and attacks them. Moreover, the Chinese Embassy has been spreading materials overseas to slander Falun Gong. For example, in 2005, the Edmonton Police Service hate crimes unit testified that the diplomat at the Consulate in Calgary spread materials to incite hatred toward Falun Gong. In 2004, Pan Xinchun, the Chinese Deputy Consul General in Toronto, was found guilty of libel by the Ontario Superior Court in Canada."

Ms. Zhou said: "The Chinese Embassy incites the Chinese communities to sign petitions against Falun Gong to influence mainstream society. It also incited Chinese media to publish articles to attack Falun Gong. It tried to undermine and interfere with the Epoch Times and NTDTV. I believe that more evidence of the Chinese Embassy's persecuting Falun Gong will be exposed in the future."

The President of NTDTV Canada: The officials at the Chinese Embassy, who are involved in undermining NTDTV's operations, will have to be held accountable legally.

The President of NTDTV Canada Wang Shaojiu said that the CCP has been controlling the media in China very tightly. The CCP doesn't allow the media to express any dissenting opinion. As for the Chinese media overseas, the CCP also takes all kinds of methods to infiltrate and control them.

Mr. Wang Shaojiu said: "One of the characteristics of NTDTV is that it is independent and not controlled by any government. For example, when SARS was spreading in China in 2003, NTDTV reported on it two weeks before the Chinese government admitted the existence of SARS in China."

Mr. Wang said: "The CCP has tried its best to attack and suppress media outlets like NTDTV. In 2004, NTDTV signed a contract with Eutelsat to transmit uncensored programs around the clock to people in Mainland China and other parts of Asia via Eutelsat's W5 satellite. The CCP pressured Eutelsat to terminate the transmission. The CCP has also been trying interfere with NTDTV in China ever since NTDTV entered Canada in 2003."

Ms. Wang said: "With the document provided by Ms. Zhang Jiyan, we have evidence with the names of Chinese officials involved. The officials at the Chinese Embassy who are involved in undermining NTDTV's operation will have to be held accountable legally."

Sweden: Rally to Support the 20 million Brave People Who Quit Chinese Communist Party

On March 31, 2007, some Chinese living in Sweden had a rally in front of the Chinese Embassy in Stockholm to support the 20 million Chinese who have withdrawn from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). People held banners reading “Support 20 million Chinese quitting the CCP”, “The evil CCP has been uprooted”, and ''To withdraw from the CCP is to disintegrate the CCP”. Many people held handmade placards reading “Quit CCP” and “Support a free China”.

Most of those taking part in the rally were from Stockholm and Gothenburg, the second biggest city in Sweden. They made speeches and spoke out their messages to the Chinese Embassy over an amplifier. They told embassy staff the true situation of Chinese people withdrawing from the CCP, and urged them to quit the CCP themselves.

One man told people the story of Ms. Zhang Jiyan, wife of a staff member in the Chinese Embassy in Canada, who had renounced the CCP and its affiliated organizations. He encouraged staff in the embassy to stand up and break away from the CCP and to welcome a new China without the CCP.

The rally later moved to Mynttorget Square in the city centre. The participants continued to tell Stockholm residents and tourists about Chinese people’s withdrawal from the CCP. Some posters revealing the crimes of the CCP were also displayed.

In her speech, Jans from “Supporting Human Rights in China” said after the Epoch Times published the editorial “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party”, the great wave of withdrawals from the CCP began. 20 million Chinese have now quit the CCP. “A new era has arrived and we are happy about Chinese people awakening.”

One man said, “Communist dictatorship killed 100 million people in the world. I am so glad to see that Chinese people have got the chance to withdraw from the CCP and China will discard evil Communism just like East Europe and Soviet Union did.”

Many tourists came to ask for leaflets about the situation, including Chinese. A Chinese couple quit the CCP on site.

One Chinese man did not like the rally, thinking they should not bad things about their own country. Mr. Li from the Service Center of Quitting CCP talked with him about the evildoings of the CCP and thus he understood the evil nature of the CCP. At last this man said “In the political environment of China, we have been fooled and brainwashed by the CCP and it is very hard for us to make correct judgment. In this information age, it is not good to block the internet and to control public opinion. Chinese people outside China are relatively lucky because they can obtain information from all resources. I feel lucky that I met you today.”

Tourists from other countries also showed concern. Many of them came to ask for English leaflets about the withdrawals from the CCP. People from Eastern Europe and former Soviet Union were particularly concerned and they wished a good future for Chinese people.

This event was jointly organized by Swedish Service Center of Quitting the CCP, the Epoch Times, and Supporting Human Rights in China.

Germany: "CCP's Dictatorship Makes This Kind of Things Become Possible"

On the night of March 29, 2007, the seminar hall inside the Victims of Stalinism Memorial Library in Berlin was fully seated, and some attendees even went to find chairs elsewhere. The topic which has kindled so much interest from the German attendees is "The Chinese Communist Party's Organ Harvesting from Living Falun Gong Practitioners". By invitation of the International Society for Human Rights, which is based in Frankfurt, and of the German Epoch Times, Canada's famous international human rights lawyer David Matas and Canada's former Secretary of State for Asia-Pacific David Kilgour attended the seminar as the authors of an independent report into this issue.

Liu Wei, a Falun Gong practitioner in Germany, gives testimony: All Falun Gong practitioners in Beijing Women's Labour Camp have had detailed physical examinations

Liu Wei, a Falun Gong practitioner in Germany, attended the seminar as a witness. She told everyone about her experiences and what she underwent between September 2001 and January 2003 at Beijing Women's Labour Camp. At that time all the Falun Gong practitioners there had to have detailed body checks, but none of the other detainees were treated in the same way. Liu Wei concluded that this could not be because the labour camp cared especially about Falun Gong practitioners' health, because the Falun Gong practitioners were brutally beaten, forced to stand for long periods of time, not allowed to sleep, forced to watch propaganda videos slandering Falun Gong and made to do long hours of slave labour. As a result they were injured physically as well as psychologically.

During an interview after the seminar, Ms Popiolek, a librarian in the Victims of Stalinism Memorial Library, said, "The two Canadian investigators' report was very shocking, and their words were very persuasive. From what I saw most of the audience were very astonished by their words. They really touched everyone."

Ms Popiolek, a librarian in Victims of Stalinism Memorial Library, says that the words of the two Canadian investigators are very persuasive

Mr. Steudel, a retired physician, said during a telephone interview the next day, "After the seminar I could not stop thinking about it all. In the past I have seen some materials about the CCP's taking organs, but I never thought that this is happening on such a large scale. After the seminar, I went home and read the report about the CCP's harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. I think that this report's arguments are very sufficiently backed up by evidence. But of course, like it was said on the seminar - right now there are still no ways to seek legally-authentic evidence. However, we went through the same thing in Nazi Germany. At that time people of other countries heard about the things that were happening in Germany, they could say 'I don't believe it, it's impossible', and I think it's the same case here. I have already downloaded this report from the internet, and sent it to several friends, asking them to read it and then pass it on to others."

Film producer Jungnickel was very familiar with Communism's totalitarian system, and has made many documentaries in the past about Communist tyranny in East Germany. He said, "This subject leaves deep impressions in people's minds, because there is very little information disclosed from inside China, so to many of us, it's all very new. The only thing that has made it possible is the inhumane nature of the CCP's dictatorship. This case has already been established, and even though the economy has developed, the political system is still narrow-minded and autocratic."

One of the biggest newspapers in Germany â€" "Die Welt", published a very long and accurate report two days after the seminar. Aiming to explain the CCP's law passed on July 1, 2006 to ban the organ trade, the article quotes independent investigator Kilgour's words, "In China, there is always a huge gap between making a law and putting it into action." The article reveals that last November, Belgian MP Patrik Vankrukelsven phoned two hospitals in Beijing saying that he desperately needed an urgent kidney transplant. Both hospitals immediately expressed that they could provide a kidney for 50,000 Euros. However this law banning the organ trade was passed last July, and should have been implemented fully in China 4 months ago.
