Ms. Lin Daihong from Baishan City in Jilin Province was illegally arrested in late August 2007 for clarifying the truth to the local people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The detention center guards force-fed her in an inhumane way while she was on a persecution protest hunger strike. The arrest left her child, her 92-year-old grandfather, and her elderly parents-in-law with inadequate care.
On the morning of September 4, 2007, National Security Group leader Sun finally allowed Ms. Lin's family members to see her, after she had been detained for almost one week. She was very pale and no longer had her previously rosy complexion. National Security Group police officers were present continually during the visit. They kept her from talking. Her family members could see the wounds on her arms. They learned that she had been interrogated many times.
Ms. Lin had been on a hunger strike for almost five days while in detention and was extremely weak. On the morning of September 5, she was given a forced intravenous infusion, and she was force-fed again around noon. Three males held her to the floor during the force-feeding. They held her by her hair and arms, causing her arms to turn blue in many areas. When her sister and husband saw her, their hearts broke. After seeing her, her husband went to an area where no one else could see him and cried. Her mother-in-law was so worried that she could not eat for several days.
After Ms. Lin's arrest, her husband, Lu Ming, kept going to Shiren Police Station and the National Security Group in Jiangyuan County. The police station officials were avoiding him, so he went to see National Security Group leader Sun, who claimed that Ms. Lin would not be released unless she confessed where she had gotten the Falun Gong materials and who distributed them with her, and after she had written a statement promising to no longer practice Falun Gong.
In August 2007 the police in Chengdu arrested 20 Falun Gong practitioners, including Ms. Zhong Fangqiong, author of the novel Weathering the Storm, and Shen Xiaodu, a grandson of retired renowned Chinese scholar (Jurist) Shen Junru.
From August 1-3, agents from the 1st Section of Jinniu District Police Department in Chengdu City broke into Falun Gong practitioners' homes, searched them, and arrested the practitioners. The police confiscated many of their belongings. The 1st Section is also called the National Security Team.
The practitioners arrested on August 1 included Zhong Fangqiong, Liu Jia, Li Ruzhen and Ms. Huang's husband. She was forced to undergo brainwashing and was watched by two students while forced to live off-campus. Although she had to suspend her studies for a year and a half, she was still able to pass the level 8 English exam, while one of the students that was ordered to watch her failed it.

The police station in Mengjiangtun, and the National Security Team of the police department in the Economic and Technology Development District of Changchun City have arrested several Falun Gong practitioners since July 7, 2007. They held the practitioners in Mengjiangtun Police Station and tortured them in order to force them to succumb. Among the practitioners were Dong Ming, Zhu Xiaoguang, and An Liguo. They were sentenced to one year of forced labor and were sent to Fenjing Forced Labor Camp on August 8, 2007.
On July 24, 2007, Zhu Xiaoguang drove to see Dong Ming and his wife to inform them that practitioner Si Bowen had been arrested late in the afternoon of July 23. But Zhu, Dong and Dong's wife, as well as Ms. Wang, who worked at the store, were all arrested by the police from Mengjiatun Police Station. Zhu's car was also detained by the police. Ms. Wang was subsequently released because of her age.
On the morning of July 25, Mengjiatun Police Station in cooperation with the National Security Team of the police branch in the Economic and Technology Development District arrested An Liguo at work and took him to the police station.
The practitioners were tortured during their interrogations. They were suffocated with plastic bags, their fingers were pinched between two pencils, and their heads were beaten with plastic bottles full of water. Among the police who did the torture were Gao Hang, Miao Jiping from Mengjiangtun Police Station and Wang Fuping from the National Security Team.
The police claimed that the practitioners were arrested on the spot while distributing Falun Gong materials. Despite the practitioners' refusal to sign anything, they were sent to forced labor camps for a year. Dong Ming, Zhu Xiaoguang and An Liguo were sent to Fenjing Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City on August 8, 2007.
The police searched their homes and arrested them later without a warrant. They did not present any written explanation or supporting evidence to the practitioners' families to justify the forced labor camp sentencing.
