Four Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Zhang Yanmei, Mr. Han Naijun, Mr. Yan Jialiang and Ms. Wang Qi from Tongliao City were recently arrested. Police released Yan Jialiang after they extorted 50,000 yuan from his family. Zhang Yanmei was released the same day; however, her husband Han Naijun is still being detained. Han Naijun has been on a 14-day hunger strike to protest the persecution at Hexi Detention Center. His life is in peril but the police kept his family in darkness.
Wang Qi is being held at Hexi Detention Center now. The police claimed they would not release her, even if she pays 10,000 Yuan. When Wang Qi's family approached National Security Team deputy leader Guan Zhengang, he claimed, "As family members, you had better cooperate with us. Look at how someone else's family member cooperated with us, and that someone was released."
Wang Qi's family member said, "I'll go ask them and find out how they cooperated with you."
Guan Zhengang then replied, "No, I said something wrong. I shouldn't have told you that. This is a police secret."
Mr. Han Naijun's family members approached Guan Zhengang after she got to know Han Naijun's life was in peril. Guan Zhengang was stunned and asked how she got the information. The family member asked Guan Zhengang, why they were not informed and who should be held responsible if something happens to Han Naijun. Guan Zhengang refused to answer and suddenly pushed Han Naijun's family member outside the door and did it again, so violently, that the family member tripped on the stairs. Fortunately she steadied herself against the wall and did not fall downstairs.
Mr. Han Naijun and Mr. Yan Jialiang were missing at the night of June 27, 2007 and did not return home. Han Naijun's wife Zhang Yanmei saw a black sedan parked in front of her building the next day and some suspicious personnel strolling around the building. A policewoman joined them later. Zhang Yanmei later recognized one of the four police as being Wang Wei from Tienan Police Station.
When she returned home at around 3:00 p.m., the police were in ambush downstairs. Several policemen held Zhang Yanmei tightly. Zhang Yanmei tried to break free and shouted loudly, "Falun Dafa is good!"
Her neighbors all looked on. The police became furious. They cursed loudly and claimed they had arrested Han Naijun and Yan Jialiang. They ordered Zhang Yanmei to open her door and let them search the place, but Zhang Yanmei defied them. Then the police took Zhang Yanmei away.
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Ye Sijing used to live at 15 Liansheng Street, Kaifu District, Changsha City, Hunan Province. On August 2, 2007, Ms. Ye was sentenced to three years and sent to Baima Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province. She is jailed in the 7th Group, which is designated as a unit for torturing Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Ye has been so brutally tortured that she has lost her eyesight in just 30 days.
The Police from Minzhu East Street Station and Kaifu District arrested Ms. Ye on June 21, 2007. To help his mother, Ms. Ye's son posted a note on their front door to hire a lawyer to file a lawsuit. Therefore, the police have threatened him ever since. Ms. Ye's son had no choice but to leave his hometown to avoid persecution.
After the police arrested Ms. Ye, without any of her relatives present, they searched her house and confiscated her personal savings of 5000 yuan. The money was never returned to her family.
Ms. Ye's husband is almost 60 years old and in bad health. He barely makes a living by loaning books and making keys.
The persecution and tortures at Baima Women's Forced Labor Camp is the most severe in Henan Province. Many Falun Gong practitioners were tortured to death or mental collapse. Ms. Ye's family and friends worry about her safety.
