Ms. Liu Sheng was a retired employee of the water supply company, which is part of the 5th Daqing Oil Plant Management Bureau. Because she did not renounce Falun Gong, the police repeatedly arrested and imprisoned her, and her marriage suffered.
In June 2006, Ms. Liu was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people in Kaihuanghutun when someone reported her to the police. Policeman Li Wenzhong and his colleagues tried to arrest her, but Ms. Liu escaped successfully. A month later, a policeman named Dong and seven other officers from Honggang Police Branch broke into her home through the window and arrested her. She was sentenced to 18 months of forced labor. Within only 30 days, Ms. Liu coughed up blood and was unable to eat because of the cruel torture. After 30 days at the camp, Ms. Liu was released. She went into hiding to avoid further persecution.
Although Ms. Liu had left home, police goaded her husband's family into harassing her family. Her family members were even suspended from work and were living under tremendous pressure. Her husband divorced her. Another harmonious family was torn apart.
On July 5, 2007, Ms. Liu visited a fellow practitioner's home. The police had staked out the practitioner's home to catch her. She was arrested. The police stole her printer, paper, MP3 player, electronic books and about 500 yuan. The police took her to a police station in the Xingnan, Honggang District. Lin Shui, Li Jinrui, Wei Tao and other police officers punched and kicked her repeatedly until she spit up blood and passed out. When she came to, the police resumed the beating. Her entire body was swollen and severely bruised. Her family asked to see her that evening, but the police refused. They were afraid her family would see the evidence that they had tortured her.
The next day, the police took her to the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center, which had been turned into a makeshift detention facility for practitioners. On the way there, Ms. Liu attempted to clarify the truth about Falun Gong to the police. Li Jinrui hit her face as soon as she opened her mouth. Ms. Liu lost hearing in her left ear.
A prison guard named Wei Tao refused to let Ms. Liu use the bathroom. She suffered severe pain in her lower abdomen. The center then refused to keep her there because of her health condition. Three days later the police notified her family to pick her up, but demanded 20,000 yuan ransom. The police finally agreed to release her when they saw that her family could not come up with the money. Ms. Liu's family could barely recognize her.
Ms. Liu had been hiding from the police for a long time. Because she was subjected to severe torture and abuse when she was arrested and imprisoned, she became critically ill. After she was released, she was unable to eat and threw up constantly. She was skin and bones. Her weight was 66 lbs. She passed away at the age of 53 on September 11, 2007.
Mr. Li Zhiqin Tortured to Death Within Three
Hours of His Arrest in Ningjin County, Hebei Province
During the evening of September 11, 2007, Ningjin County 610 Office and Zhao County 610 Office officials went to Mr. Li Zhiqin's home in Zhao County, illegally arrested him and ransacked his house. He was later taken to Ningjin County, where he died as a result of abuse that same evening.
Mr. Li Zhiqin, 51, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Xiaozao Village, Ningjin County, Hebei Province. Someone locally reported him in May 2006 for explaining the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. Ningjin County Police Department and 610 Office officials then harassed him, so he decided to become homeless to avoid further persecution. He and his family fled to Zhao County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, where he got a job. His entire family lived in a rented house in Zhao County.
Within three hours after Mr. Li Zhiqin's arrest he was dead. (An investigation into the details is needed.) It was reported that Ningjin County 610 Office officials threatened his family and only paid a little money as compensation for his death.
Ningjin County 610 Office head Shen Jianzhong is the person mainly responsible for torturing Mr. Li to death. He arranges and carries out all the persecution of practitioners in Ningjin County.
Liaoning Province Women's Prison Refuses to Allow Ms. Yang Chunling's Elderly Father to Visit Her
In August 2007, Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Chunling's father went to visit her in prison. Ms. Yang has been illegally sentenced to seven years in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. However, the head of the elderly and disabled group, Cong Zhuo, denied her father's visitation at the prison. The reason stated was, "Yang shouted out in protest in the prison." Ms. Yang's family members worry that the actual reason for disallowing relatives to see her is that she might have been brutally tortured.
Yang Chunling was put into the elderly and disabled group of Liaoning Province Women's Prison from Liaoyang Detention Center at the beginning of December 2006. The head of the elderly and disabled group, Cong Zhuo, ordered criminal inmate Zhao Yan to brutally beat Ms. Yang. She was beaten in an isolated room that night. Her mouth was sealed with tape and she was brutally beaten by Zhao Yan, Zhang Ling, and other prisoners. As a result, Ms. Yang's arms had a compound fracture and her legs were injured and she could not walk. Police officer Cong Zhuo stated they were not responsible for Ms. Yang and that her family should pay for the expensive medical bill although they have no money.
Ms. Yang's father was the only person living in the family's home because the rest of the family members were all being subjected to persecution. Her father has gotten by with his paltry retirement pay. Her relatives asked the prison for justice. However, the prison head and the head of elderly and disabled group claimed they were not responsible and said, "Yang Chunling caused her own arms to fracture."
Ms. Yang's father borrowed money from his relatives for her medical bill. Long-term repeated harassment by the police caused him to develop heart problems.
Ms. Yang's arms have been fractured twice from beatings. She was brutally tortured because she had started a hunger strike. She developed lack of iodine, potassium, anemia, hypoglycemia, and heart palpitations as well as feeling faint. She had such poor health that she could not walk without others' help.
Ms. Yang's mother, Dong Baoxin, was harassed and tortured at the hands of Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) officials. She passed away in October 2004.
