Police remove Mr Gu from a hospital against medical advice and he dies the next day.

An inside look at practices within Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, including taking blood samples without prisoner consent for unexplained purposes.

Supervisng nurse Ms. Zhou Ling has been arrested, tortured and now sentenced to a year of forced labor for mentioning the persecution of Falun Gong to a patient.

Mr. Gu Qun Passes Away after Being Forced-fed by Police

While distributing truth-clarifying materials, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gu Qun from Dalian City, Liaoning Province was arrested on March 16, 2008 by police from the Tianjin Street Police Substation. The next day he was moved to Yaojia Detention Center of Dalian City. Mr Gu started a hunger strike in protest and suffered brutal force-feeding by the police. His body was severely damaged.

On April 7th, when Mr. Gu was taken to the Third People's Hospital, the hospital decided to keep him because of his poor physical condition. However, the police insisted on taking him to be treated at the police hospital. But they did not go to the police hospital, and he was taken directly back to the detention center.

At 9 a.m. on April 8, the police again sent Mr. Gu to the Third People's Hospital, but in fact what they sent was his dead body. Afterwards the detention center made up evidence about his death and withheld the news. His family was notified of his death after 2 p.m. on April 9.

Exposing Crimes Committed in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

On May 7, 2008, all detainees of Masanjia Labor Camp were forced to have their blood drawn; they were not given any explanation as to why. Ms. Wang Chunying is a Falun Gong practitioner. Because she refused to cooperate with the guards, they forcibly dragged her away, ripping her clothing. Ms. Wang tried to clarify the truth to them, and asked them to stop forcibly drawing blood from Falun Gong practitioners. Wang Yanping, the head of the management department, Li Mingyu, the department chief, Zhao Jinghua and Zhai Yanhui, the secretaries, and Xiang Kuili and Wang Xiuju, the captains, etc., a total of eight guards, and a doctor and nurse from the camp hospital, forcibly pressed her on the bed. Ms. Wang shouted, "Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness Compassion Tolerance is good; whoever persecutes Falun Gong will receive retribution."

Wang Yanping claimed, "I am not afraid of it. Put my name on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website."

Wang Yanping grasped a pillow and shoved it onto her face to choke her. Ms. Wang was struggling and shouting even more loudly. After a few tries, the guards didn't succeed. In the end, they had to handcuff her to the bed, and forcibly drew five milliliters of blood from her. Ms. Wang's face turned red as the result of the choking, and the back of her palm was also injured. Many Falun Gong practitioners were violently forced to have their blood drawn, Chen Liying was one of them.

From May 9, the Masanjia Labor Camp engaged in the so-called "Double-hundred Strike Hard Order," which will last until October. The guards planned to intensify the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners during this period of time. Practitioners have to finish their hard-labor assignments on schedule, otherwise, they will be beaten, or their prison terms will be extended. Li Mingyu instigated someone surnamed Chen to beat up practitioners who didn't finish their assignments. She also threatened, "Those who don't finish their task on time will taste my electric baton." The head of the team often helped the guards do the beating. In order to coerce detainees to make money for them, the guards in Masanjia would do anything to persecute them.

On May 13, Ms. Li Jun, a Falun Gong practitioner who was illegally detained in the Second Battalion, went on hunger strike to protest her persecution. She was then handcuffed and taken away and shocked with electric batons. Guards who were involved in the persecution of her included Wang Shuzeng, Zhang Yu, Yan Shun, Ren Huaiping, etc.

Since May 14, all Falun Gong practitioners and their 'instructors' have been forbidden to watch the news. The guards said they didn't want them to know about the earthquake calamity.

On May 15, the guards suddenly asked all detainees to clean up their rooms. They told them that provincial officials had come to inspect their facilities. Falun Gong practitioners who had been handcuffed and tortured were hidden by the guards so the provincial officials wouldn't see them. In order to smooth the inspection, Li Mingyu silenced the instructors by giving them a carton of cigarettes, and threatened them, "Whoever tells the truth, her term will be extended by one month." Outsiders who go to inspect the Masanjia Labor Camp can only see a false image.

Additionally, the guards in Masanjia Labor Camp forced 40 detainees, including more than 10 Falun Gong practitioners, to do hard labor in a food factory. There was a lot of work there. They had to work from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. They made stewed eggs, chicken and pork with soy sauce. The guards imposed greater workloads on Falun Gong practitioners.

610 Office in Huaian City, Jiangsu Province Arrests Ms. Zhou Ling for Practicing Falun Gong

On May 23, 2008, 610 Office agent Wang Jianhuai in Huaian City, Jiangsu Province called Falun Gong practitioner Zhou Ling, who is a nurse in-charge at the Huaian City Chinese Traditional Medical Hospital. He asked her to go to Qinghe District Police Branch to "have a talk." After Ms. Zhou went to the 610 Office at Qinghe District Police Department, she was illegally arrested and detained at the Huaian City Detention Center.

Before Ms. Zhou's arrest, Falun Gong practitioner Hu Yunqin, another nurse in-charge at the Huaian City Chinese Traditional Medical Hospital, was arrested on April 15 from her work place. Four police from Qinghe District 610 Office, including police officers Chang Shulin and Wang Jianhuai and the Security Section Chief of Huaian City Chinese Traditional Medical Hospital, Wei Yujie, arrested Hu Yunqin and "illegally detained" her for 15 days. Hu Yunqin was brutally tortured, both physically and mentally, and she still suffers from extreme pain, even after being released. Her left eye was beaten badly, causing bleeding and vision blurring. Even now, she still suffers from a painful wrist injury.

Ms. Zhou Ling, who is 48 years old, was a very hard worker at her job and she was even honored with the "outstanding nurse in-charge" award. After clarifying the truth to a patient at work, the patient reported her to the authorities. On February 3, 2008, Qinhe District 610 Office police officers Wang Jianhuai, Chang Shulin and others illegally confiscated Zhou Ling's home, beat her and took away her personal computer, cell phone and other personal belongings. Later she was detained for a month.

During her detention, police officers Wang Jianhuai and Chang Shulin went to the detention center many times to torture and interrogate her. On March 3, the 610 police transferred her to the Communist Party School Hotel to brutally torture her and force her to sit on the tiger bench for four days and nights. She was released on March 7, but the police still monitored her at her home and frequently harassed her at her work place. The police never returned her computer and other personal belongings.

According to sources, Zhou Ling has already been sentenced to one-year of forced labor after she was arrested on May 23. The CCP officials notified her family members only after they had already sent Zhou Ling away.
