Mr. Chen Yunchuan, 70, is a practitioner from
Canfangying Village, Beixindian Township, Huailai County, Hebei Province. All
six members of his family are practitioners, and four of them have died as a
result of the persecution. Recently, Mr. Chen was arrested again at his home.
Between June and mid-July 2008, the Chinese
Communist Party (CCP) officials in Wanquan County arrested 19 Falun Gong
practitioners. The police confiscated personal items and Falun Gong books from
practitioners' homes.
Mr. Chen Yunchuan, 70, is a practitioner from Canfangying Village, Beixindian Township, Huailai County, Hebei Province. All six members of his family are practitioners, and four of them have died as a result of the persecution. Recently, Mr. Chen was arrested again at his home.
In mid-July, 2008, officers from Beixindian Township Police Station and Domestic Security Team of Huailai County broke into Mr. Chen's home. He was asked if he still practiced Falun Gong and he answered, "Yes!" The police then tried to force him to go with them but he refused. He was then forcibly pulled into a police car. Mr. Chen's whereabouts are unknown.
During the past nine years that Falun Gong has been persecuted, Mr. Chen's home has been ransacked many times and his family members have been subjected to repeated arrests and brutal torture. Three of his four children have died due to the persecution. The oldest son, Mr. Chen Aizhong, was sentenced to three years of forced labor and died at the Hehuakeng Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City on September 20, 2001. The youngest daughter, Ms. Chen Hongping, was sentenced to forced labor after both of her legs were broken during a beating. She died at the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp on March 5, 2003. The youngest son, Mr. Chen Aili, was tortured to the verge of death at Jidong Prison in Fengnan County, Tangshan City. He passed away on November 5, 2004. The elderly couple, Mr. Chen and his wife, Ms. Wang Liangrong, had to leave their home for one and a half years to avoid being persecuted. Ms. Wang died on August 4, 2008, while they were were living in exile. Each town, township and village is monitoring practitioners within their area. Officials have also broken into the homes of practitioners and individuals who had read Falun Gong books before the persecution began in 1999. The government officials forced them to sign their names, took their fingerprints and confiscated their identification cards. These agents threatened to hold a brainwashing session for those practitioners who didn't cooperate with them.

Among them, nine practitioners are held at Shisanli Detention Center in Zhangjiakou City. One practitioner is held at Baozili Detention Center in Zhangjiakou City and one is held at Xuanhua Detention Center. Six are detained at Wanquan County Detention Center. One was forced to leave home and became homeless. The police officers confiscated personal items and Falun Gong books from practitioners' homes.
On June 6, ten people, including the government officials from Wanquan County, Beixintun Township, the Chinese Communist Party secretary, police officer An Wengui from Beixintun Township local police station, Damaping Village Head Lan Cheng, as well as Miaoergou Village Head Tian Guibin, broke into the home of a relative of Xuanhua practitioner Ms. Li Xinlan. They took Ms. Li to the Wanquan County Police Department and later sent her to Baizili Detention Center in Zhangjiakou City. She was persecuted there for over twenty days, until she became very ill. Officers also attempted to arrest Damaping Village practitioner Ms. He Yutao, who managed to escape. The police officers confiscated one TV, one receiver and three satellite dishes from the homes of Ms. Li Xinlan and Ms. He Yutao.
At around 8:30 p.m. on June 13, over a dozen people, including the Wanquan County Police Department Political Commissioner Li Mingyuan, Domestic Security Team officers Rong Bin and Jiang Aiguo, Wanquan Town local police station Chief Li Yongheng, and Wanquan Town Southwest Village Council members Li Shiping and Li Quanyou, arrested practitioner Ms. Wen Guiyun. They took away the computer used by Ms. Wen's nephew for his studies. A color TV, VCD and Falun Gong books were also taken. Ms. Wen's husband has a heart problem and she has tended to him for many years. The police officers weren't concerned about the wellbeing of the elderly gentleman at all, and they continued to ransack the home.
At 10:00 p.m. on June 13, the police broke into practitioner Ms. Yang Suxiang's home. They confiscated a color TV, VCD, CD burner and hundreds of CDs from her home. They took two practitioners to the county police department on the same night. The next day, they took them to Shisanli Detention Center in Zhangjiakou City, where they have been detained since.
At around 9:30 p.m. on June 14, police officers Jiang Aiguo and Rong Bin from the Domestic Security Team in Wanquan County, Hebei Province as well as agent Xu Xianting from Guoleizhuang Police Station and some village council members arrested Guoleizhuang Town practitioners Ms. Bai Yuntao, Ms. Wang Xiaoxian, Ms. Zhang Yinli and Ms. Liu Ruilin. The police officers ransacked their homes. On the afternoon of June 15, they took the four practitioners to Shisanli Detention Center and have detained them there since.
On the evening of June 15, police officers from Xuanpingbao Police Station in Wanquan County and Shuiquanbao Village CCP officials took practitioner Ms. Hang Shiping into custody. They confiscated one copy of Zhuan Falun. They also searched a non-practitioner's home because there were some Falun Gong materials there. The police took two people to the Shisanli Detention Center in Zhangjiakou City. Ms. Hang Shiping was detained for fifteen days. The non-practitioner was detained for six days.
At 3:00 p.m. on June 20, police agents from the Domestic Security Team in Wanquan County and Anjiabao Police Station broke into the home of practitioners Mr. Yang Yiqiang and Ms. Guo Xiurong. They took two computers, one CD burner, one printer, one TV and one VCD.
Practitioner Ms. Yang Aiping and older practitioner Ms. Sun Meilan were arrested at the same time.
At around 4:00 p.m. on June 20, a dozen people from the Domestic Security Team in Wanquan County, Anjiabao Township and the Tianmaozhuang Village Council broke into practitioner Ms. Peng Yanqin's home. They confiscated all Falun Gong books and took Ms. Ren Fenge and Ms. Peng Yanqin to the Wanquan County Detention Center. Ms. Sun Meilan and Ms. Peng Yanqin were released after 15 days. The other four practitioners who were arrested are still detained at the Wanquan County Detention Center.
At 8:00 p.m. on June 20, police officers from the Domestic Security Team in Wanquan County took Kongjiazhuang No. 4 Primary School teacher Ms. Yang Aiyun into custody. Her home was ransacked. On June 21, the administration of No. 4 Primary School had Ms. Yang Aiyun released. At noon on June 25, a group of police officers from the Domestic Security Team went to her school to arrest her again. They took her to the Xuanhua County Detention Center in Zhangjiakou City.
At around 9:30 p.m. on June 23, police officer Yang Aiguo led the Domestic Security Team to arrest Kongjiazhuang Town practitioner Ms. Guo Tao. They took her computer and a portrait of Falun Gong's founder from her home. They sent her to Shisanli Detention Center, where she is still detained.
At around 10:00 a.m. on July 4, more than a dozen people including the police agents from the Domestic Security Team in Wanquan County, the chief of Gaomiaobao Township Police Station, and Bingmin Village CCP officials Guo Yiping and Guo Baoyuan broke into practitioner Mr. Guo Tai 's home. They pretended to be checking his identification card when Mr. Guo Tai was farming outside in the field and deceived him into returning home. They ransacked his home and confiscated a copy machine. His home was left in a complete mess. Mr. Guo Tai is in detention at the Wanquan County Detention Center.
On the morning of July 6, practitioner Mr. Zhao Guilin and several other practitioners went to the county police department to request the release of practitioner Ms. Peng Yanqin. They were arrested after they returned home. Their whereabouts are unknown.
On the morning of July 9, Jin Hong, chief of Shanfangbao Township Police Station in Wanquan County, along with Liangzhuang Village CCP officials broke into Shanfangbao Township older practitioner Mr. Wang Pu 's home. They ransacked the home and took Mr. Wang to the County Detention Center. Mr. Wang Pu is unmarried. He has had an uncommon disease from a very young age. In the past, his disease was kept under control by the use of medicine and morphine, but he became very weak. After practicing Falun Gong, he regained good health. He was able to stop using the medicine and overcame an addiction to morphine. However, now the CCP will not release such an elderly man.
