Police can arrest suspected Falun Gong practitioners at will.
Mr. Fan was arrested in late 2007 and after a few months became quite weak. After being diagnosed with liver cancer, he was not treated or released until near death.
Qingdao City Police Use Olympics as Excuse to Launch New Wave of Terror
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is scheduled to host the Olympic Games on August 8, 2006. Using the excuse of "protecting the Olympics," the CCP has rampantly arrested innocent citizens. Please look at what is happening in Qingdao City.
On July 25, 2008, when a 65-year-old female Falun Gong practitioner, Zhang Xiuying, from the Third Village, Lingshan Town, Jimo City, Qingdao, was telling people about the persecution in an open air market, she was reported to the police. Zhang was arrested by Dong Quanqi, director of the Office of Comprehensive Management, along with officers from the Lingshan Town Police Station. Later, seven or eight officers from Lingshan Town Police Station, including Wang Deyi, drove in two cars to ransack Zhang's home.
At about 6:00 p.m. on July 23, five or six policemen, purported to be from the Sifang Police Branch, broke into Falun Dafa practitioner Jia Cuilan's home in the South District of Qingdao City, and arrested her. The police illegally confiscated some personal property and warned Jia's family not to visit her. The abductors did not say where Jia Cuilan would be detained. There were dozens of similar cases like this in Qingdao in July.
Behind closed doors in meetings prior to the Olympic Games, Chinese authorities defined Falun Gong practitioners as dangerous people and authorized a systematic plan. Police need not investigate deeply. They can arrest all suspected Falun Gong practitioners at will. The authorities would rather wrongfully arrest a thousand people than to miss one practitioner. Female Falun Gong practitioner Xiao Sumin in Pingdu City was taken away by the CCP on May 30, 2008. She was persecuted to death on June 20. Ms. Xiao was only 46 years old. In the afternoon of June 21, Xiao Sumin's body was cremated by the CCP authorities in Qingdao. Her ashes were taken to her home in Pingdu at 7:00 p.m. Under the pretense of "successfully hosting the Olympic Games," the CCP has initiated a new wave of terror against Falun Gong practitioners and other activists and dissidents. In just 21 days, the CCP persecuted to death a formerly healthy person, who's only crime was following Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance. Ms. Xiao is survived by a young daughter.
According to people familiar with the matter, China's police forces are regrouping to enforce security during the Olympic Games. The authorities are planning to arrest more Falun Gong practitioners.
Mr. Fan Youjun Dies as Result of the Persecution in Hubei Province
Mr. Fan Youjun, 56, lived in Jiangchang Town, Tianmen City, Hubei Province. He used to suffer from Hepatitis-B, but after cultivating Falun Gong, his symptoms disappeared. He made his living by running a breakfast booth, and people loved his sincerity. After the persecution began in 1999, evil Party officers harassed and detained him multiple times. He was last arrested on the afternoon of October 23, 2007. Several Domestic Security agents broke into his home and found a Falun Dafa book and some Minghui periodicals, and they detained him immediately. His wife spent nearly ten thousand yuan and tried very hard to get him released, but she only got threatened.
Mr. Fan was arrested as a healthy man, but he was mentally and physically tortured in the detention center. After only several months of mistreatment in detention, he became very weak. He appeared to suffer liver cirrhosis symptoms, and his whole body became swollen. A medical check-up found that he had late-stage liver cancer. The 610 Office refused to release him or let him be treated; instead, they planned to have him sentenced to prison.
Later, his condition worsened, and his life was in danger. A just official in the detention center signed guarantee letter (stating he would be held responsible if Mr. Fan participated in any Falun Gong activities) to allow Mr. Fan be bailed out on medical parole on July 16, 2008. Mr. Fan was checked in to Tianmen City First People's Hospital. On July 29, 2008, only 13 days after he was bailed out, Mr. Fan died.
The same evening Mr. Fan died, officers from the Jiangchang Town Police Station immediately took his body to Tianmen City Funeral Home. They feared Mr. Fan's family would sue them, so they promised to pay the funeral costs and give the family ten thousand yuan. Mr. Fan's family members are innocent farmers. The most they can do is mourn.
