Mr. Zhao Jingjun has been detained for more than five months. Although a court has refused to try him due to insufficient evidence, he is still imprisoned.

Zunhua City Police Refuse to Release Mr. Zhao Jingjun Despite Lack of Evidence

After Mr. Zhao, a Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested on July 6, 2008, the Zunhua City Police Department in Hebei Province fabricated evidence and illegally requested an arrest warrant. The Zunhua City Court put Zhao Jingjun on trial on November 25. Because of insufficient evidence, the Court rejected the case and sent it to the Procuratorate for further investigation. Mr. Zhao's family has already asked for help from a lawyer.

Mr. Zhao, 38, lives in Qihu Village, Dongjiuzhai Town, Zunhua City. He has been repeatedly persecuted by the CCP. Before practicing Falun Gong, he had gastroptosis, hemicrania, and stomach pain. He was in so much pain that he rolled around in bed all day. He couldn't use just any medication because inappropriate use of medicine would cause an allergic reaction and his whole body would become swollen and he would suffer even more. He also had a very bad temper and often argued with his wife. He even wanted to divorce her.

In 1998 he began practicing Falun Gong. As a result, his illnesses disappeared in less than a month and he also became amiable and open-minded. He and his wife lived together in harmony.

In July 1999, the CCP started to persecute Falun Gong. In September 1999, Mr. Zhao went to Beijing to peacefully appeal on behalf of Falun Gong to the CCP regime, and was detained at the Zunhua City Detention Center for almost three weeks. In addition, CCP officials extorted over 4,000 yuan from him.

In late autumn of 2000, Mr. Zhao was deceived by officials from the Dongjiuzhai Police Station and detained there for more than 40 days. While he was detained, he was not allowed to have any meals unless he paid for them. The CCP officials didn't provide any winter clothes for him and didn't allow his family members to bring anything for him from home. Later on, they extorted an additional 1,000 yuan from Mr. Zhao.

On August 9, 2001, when he was doing household chores at home, officers from the Dongjiuzhai Police Station and the Domestic Security Team in Zunhua City, (Zhang Futing, Zhang Guishen, Wang Kunyuan) arrested Zhao Jingjun and detained him for over four months. During that time, he was not allowed to use the toilet for eight days and he almost died from a swollen abdomen.

During the 2008 Olympic Games, the CCP started another round of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. On the afternoon of July 6, Zhang Lisheng from Dongjiuzhai Police Station, the Domestic Security Team Leader Wang Kunyuan, Zhang Zhimin, and other officials broke into Mr. Zhao Jingjun's home. They took pictures and ransacked his home and then sprayed an unknown poison on Zhao Jingjun and forcibly took him away. In addition, the police kicked his four-year-old son and sprayed mace into the faces of his ten-year-old son and his 60-year-old mother. The chemical was very irritating to their eyes, causing redness and pain. His ten-year-old son put his head into a big vat full of water due to the severe pain and he couldn't open his eyes for days.
