Because she asked her friend to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Ms. Tang Min was sent to the mental hospital and injected with nerve-damaging drugs.
An example of the large scale arrest of Falun Gong practitioners around July 20, 2009, the tenth anniversary of the persecution. Ms. Liu Rui, barely 16 years old, was spayed with pepper water on face by the police.
Ms. Tang Min Detained In Mental Hospital (Photo)
In May 2009, Ms. Tang Min was put into a mental hospital by her employer because she refused to give up her belief in Falun Gong. Ms. Tang was injected with nerve-damaging drugs at the hospital, and she has yet to regain her freedom.
Ms. Tang Min
Ms. Tang Min is in her forties and works at Hunan Medical University in Changsha City, Hunan Province. The university illegally detained her numerous times at its affiliated hospital, the 2nd People's Hospital in Hunan Province (Hunan Province Mental Hospital, also known as the Provincial Neural Specialty Hospital). Ms. Tang Min is currently being forcibly injected with psychiatric drugs every two weeks. After each injection, her body becomes cold, resulting in shivering and uneasiness. According to knowledgeable people, this type of drug damages the central nervous system, leading to slower reactions and other harmful effects.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) unit associated with Hunan Chinese Medicine University was furious when Ms. Tang persuaded a friend to quit the CCP. In May 2009, Ms. Tang was once again detained at the 2nd People's Hospital in Hunan Province, and her friends were all denied visitation. Ms. Tang's activities were also restricted to the cramped hospital room. After two months of isolation from the outside world and continued drug injections, Ms. Tang became emaciated, and she looked much older. Her face became a deathly white.
Last year during the Beijing Olympics, Ms. He Xianggu, another Falun Gong
practitioner from Changsha City, who is a nurse at Hunan Province Women's
and Children's Health Institute, was imprisoned at the 2nd People's Hospital
in Hunan Province for a third time. Ms. He was held down by four or five
nurses and doctors while they injected her with Risperidone, a drug used to
treat schizophrenia. In the two earlier detentions, Ms. He was injected with
long-acting haloperidol decanoate which caused stiffness in the entire body,
along with nausea and vomiting.
Daqing City Police Arrest Falun Gong Practitioners
At noon on July 13, 2009, Dumeng County Police, led by the Domestic Security Team Captain Lin Jiawei, along with local police and CCP officials, arrested nine people, including Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Liu Fubin, Cui Ruhui, Mr. Yang Haixia, and their family members in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province.
At around 11:30 a.m. on July 13, 2009, two CCP officials in the community visited Mr. Liu Fubin's home located at North Street. After the two officials left, more than twenty police officers broke into Mr. Liu's home and arrested Mr. Liu and his wife Li Shuchun, his daughter Liu Rui who is barely 16 years old, his brother Liu Fuze who is not a practitioner, and his brother's wife Zhao Mingjing. They also seized tens of thousands of yuan in valuables, including a computer, a printer, and other personal items.
When Mr. Liu's daughter was released on July 14, her forehead was full of blisters. They were caused by the police spraying pepper water on her face. Witnesses also said that at the time of her release, one of Li Shuchun's eyes was swollen from being mistreated by the police.
Also at around noon on July 13, police officers Li Shilin, Liu Zhenghuai, Wang Shiming, and others made a surprise visit to Haoze Photo Store on Bei Street and arrested the owner, Cui Ruhu. His store was ransacked and the computer which was used to process digital photos was taken. The computer was returned when no incriminating evidence could be found on the machine. Cui Ruihui, however, is still being detained by the police.
At around noon on July 13, several police officers visited Yang Haixia's husband, Wang Hongyue, in his office at a mobile company. They asked Mr. Wang to go home and open the door for the police, to which Mr. Wang refused. The police threatened that they would break into his home if he refused to go home. Then police officer Sun Hongchang ordered Ms. Yang's brother Yang Haitao, who also worked for the same company, to talk Mr. Wang into going home.
Mr. Wang was therefore forced to go home to open the door for the police. The police arrested Yang Haixia and practitioners Ms. Song Shuqing and Ms. He Xiangling, who were visiting Ms. Yang at the time. They also took away some personal items, including the book Zhuan Falun, and some DVD's.
Years ago, Ms. Yang Haixia had breast cancer and both breasts were surgically removed. She regained her health after she started practicing Falun Gong. The local police attempted to arrest her in 2002. Her family sent her hospital records to the police, so that everyone in the bureau knew that she was a cancer patient whose life was saved by practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. He Xiangling, formerly a nurse at the Health Clinic in Aolinxibo Town, was a brain tumor patient. Her health turned around after she started practicing Falun Gong. Ms. He is now suffering excruciating headaches due to the recurrence of the brain tumor. She is in police custody.
Ms. Song Shuqing was sentenced to three years of forced labor in 2002. Her husband couldn't bear the hardship and died of illnesses while she was detained in the forced labor camp. Ms. Song was left with two daughters. Her elder daughter currently works in southern China. Ms Song and her younger daughter depend on each other for survival The police arrested Ms. Song for no reason and her daughter is home alone with no one to take care of her.
