Over 30 police officers abducted Mr. Li Rushan at his home and tore his family.
Family members are not informed until after traveling to the camp.
Mr. Li Rushan Abducted by Township Police in Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province
At around 11:30 a.m. on June 30, 2009, the chief of Goumenzi Township Police Station in Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province, Fang Zhiguo, the deputy chief Wang Shiliang; and four plain-clothed police officers broke into Mr. Li Rushan's home. They threw a subpoena into the home and began to turn over chests and rummage through drawers.
Mr. Li Rushan, his wife, and his daughter were all home at that time. They attempted to stop the reckless actions of the officers. When the police tried to arrest Mr. Li, he did not cooperate and asked the police, "What kind of crime did I commit? Why are you ransacking my home illegally?"
The police replied, "We don't want to do this either. The CCP told us to do this."
Wang Shiliang called for backup when he decided that the six of them could not arrest Mr. Li by force. After a while, around thirty officers arrived with electric batons, tear gas, and other equipment. Without saying anything, they surrounded Mr. Li and his family, beat them, and fired tear gas at them. Mr. Li was overwhelmed by the police and was forcefully carried out to the police car.
According to a bystander, the police punched and kicked Mr. Li after they carried him to the car, causing Mr. Li to bleed from the head and face. This bystander could not stand it and condemned the police, asking, "How can you beat someone so savagely?" The police said roughly, "Get out of the way. This is none of your business!" When the police took away Mr. Li, his wife and daughter were in the courtyard, having passed out from the tear gas.
On July 2, 2009, officers from Goumenzi Police Station once again broke into Mr. Li's home in an attempt to arrest his wife and daughter. However, they could not be found. On July 3, 2009, over ten officers from Goumenzi Police Station and the Domestic Security Team of Lingyuan City Police Department, carrying electric batons and tear gas, once again entered Mr. Li's home and also his brother's home to try to arrest the wife and daughter. Mr. Li's wife and daughter already knew the police's intentions and had left beforehand. The police did not give up and announced to the public that anyone who provided leads to the whereabouts of Mr. Li's wife and daughter would receive a reward of 500 yuan.
Fang Zhiguo was transferred to Guomenzi Township Police Station to be the chief in the spring of 2009. In just over a month since he arrived, he has led the station's officers to arrest Falun Gong practitioners nine times, harassed many people, and extorted 13,000 yuan in cash.
Hebei Province Women's Forced Labor Camp Holds Falun Gong Practitioners Beyond Their Terms
Ms. Luo Meiling in Chicheng County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, served one year of forced labor. Her term ended on June 12, 2009. Her husband went to get her, but the authorities of Hebei Province Women's Forced Labor Camp refused to let her go and would not let her husband see her, using the pretext that she had not "transformed."
Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Cui Zhining, also from Chicheng County, and Ms. Xu Yan of Huailai County finished their terms on June 25 and July 6, respectively. On June 25, the family members of all three practitioners went together to the camp to bring them home. The camp refused to release the practitioners because they had not "transformed." Camp officials would not let the families see them. On July 6, the families went again and the same thing happened.
During this time, many families in Tangshan City and Baoding City went to pick up practitioners who had completed their terms, but if the practitioners had not succumbed to the pressure and "transformed," the forced labor camp would not allow their families to visit them and extended the practitioners' sentences.
One of the family members asked a squadron leader of Group 4, "Is there a legal document stating that a term will be extended if one does not 'transform?'"
The squadron leader claimed that the decision was made by the camp and then accused the family members of making trouble. The family member said, "You arbitrarily extended their terms and did not even notify us. We were just asking you for the justification for detaining them and you say that we are making trouble. So are we not even allowed to ask?"
A female leader of Group 4 also claimed, "Cui Zhining has not been performing well. He deserves to be detained for one more year."
A family member said, "Because you arbitrarily extended their terms. We will file a law suit."
A male leader replied defiantly, "Go ahead. We don't care what you do."
Both Mr. Cui Zhining and Ms. Xu Yang were suddenly arrested in their homes by local Communist Party agents and the police before the Olympics last year. Ms. Luo Meiling was arrested in the countryside when she told people, "Falun Dafa is good."
So far, the family members have gone to the labor camp three times. Each time, they had to travel about two thousand miles round trip. The travel expenses were considerable and it was quite a hardship traveling in the hottest days of summer, yet they are determined to continue their efforts until all of their family members are released.
