However, Li Ming, the captain of the Domestic Security Team of Xunyang District Police Precinct, took Ms. Tian back to the detention center.
Ms. Tian Haiying was arrested by Xunyang District Police Precinct at noon on November 20, 2009, when she was washing clothes at the riverside. She was taken to Jiujiang City Detention Center.
Ms. Tian's family went to the Domestic Security Team several times in December 2009, to demand her release. Li Ming yelled at them and refused to release Ms. Tian. Li once took out a camera and took photos of Ms. Tian's family, threatening to arrest them if they came again. He also claimed that the more times they came, the longer he would detain her.
Li Ming later claimed he would release Ms. Tian if she could pay him some money, but she sternly rejected him. Li Ming then submitted incriminating "materials" against her to Jiujiang City Procuratorate, but they were returned.
Li Ming and another officer took Ms. Tian to the Women's Forced Labor Camp of Jiangxi Province on December 29, 2009. Li negotiated with labor camp for a long time before the camp admitted Ms. Tian.
While in the camp, Ms. Tian was subjected to gross abuse and torture. She was force-fed, and her life was in danger. The persecutors did not release her from handcuffs until she developed symptoms of high blood pressure. Ms. Tian's family went to the labor camp in January 2010 and requested to see her, but were turned away.
Ms. Tian's family eventually saw her on February 7, 2010. They learned that she had been placed in solitary confinement. She was not allowed to wash herself, nor allowed to go outside. She had to relieve herself in a plastic bag in the cell.
This is the third time that Ms. Tian has been subjected to forced labor. She was held at Jiujiang City Forced Labor Camp for nearly four years prior to 2006.
