The city of Portland, Oregon, has quite a large population, however, its residents are dispersed. This prompted us to want to be able to more effectively distribute materials revealing the truth of China's persecution of Falun Gong in order to let more people learn the truth. Occasionally, our local practitioners noticed various free newspaper boxes located on the streets of this big city. After inquiry to the local government, we learned that this type of newspaper box does not require a permit. We would only have to purchase the box and place it on the side of any street, and it is legal as long as it does not obstruct traffic.
Through some Internet research, we quickly found out the relevant information and proceeded to purchase a few newspaper boxes as a trial. On a weekly basis, for about two months now, we have been refilling the boxes with materials (please note that we have been "refilling with less materials more frequently" because we have found that this is the most effective method). We have distributed quite a considerable amount of materials in this way. In fact, it is the people passing by themselves who pick up the materials, and the kindhearted people are bound to not miss this.
In the future, we intend to consider increasing the number of newspaper boxes and placing them in more locations such as in Chinatown, Chinese Super Mart (large grocery store), etc.
Information regarding the purchase of a newspaper stand:
(each stand costs around US$70 US$90. You can also ask the company to print the advertising flyer and the text needed (see insert picture).
