This eulogy was originally forbidden to be read at the memorial service by the Police and the University, but was finally permitted due to the strong and persistent request by Zhao Xin's family.
The Memorial Speech
First of all, on behalf of my parents and relatives, I sincerely thank all the friends and colleagues who are in attendance at Zhao Xin's funeral today. My beloved friends, it was you who accompanied her during the last days of her life. It was your encouragement and help that assisted her to depart so gracefully and peacefully.
At 6:50pm on December 11, 2000, my 32-year old sister passed away. After struggling for six months, she quietly left us. Elder sister, your younger sister wishes you a smooth journey back to your eternal home. I know you are somewhere up in the heaven watching me, watching every single one of us, and watching this sorrowful and unfortunate world.
Sister, I understand you. I know that you have spent every bit of your energy just telling us, telling the world, that the path you chose is a righteous one. Time cannot erase your effort. You gave your young life to fulfill your vision and promise. Your eyes and lips, still not closed, look as if you are silently calling and trying to wake up the numbed people in this society. You used your precious life to tell them that you have no regrets, even unto death. You are sacrificing for them, for the benefit of their gaining an eternal life.
Sister, although you left in a hurry, you truly understood the meaning of life. After practicing Falun Dafa, you said that a lot of the ambiguities in your life had become clear to you. You understood the reason for all human beings' existence; understood that people should live for others. What we saw were the enormous improvements in your personality as well as the way you conducted your daily life. You worked hard and were no longer concerned about personal gain or loss. You were no longer stubborn at home and became more mature and amicable. Everyone around you could see the difference. Along your path to pursue "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance," you tried to step forward to tell the truth about Falun Gong to the public for six times, regardless of what you had to face -- even death.
Sister, we know. Your unclosed lips are telling us that you are a good person. Because you understood the true meaning of life, you were able to be a good person.
Sister, we know. Your unclosed lips are telling us that because you understood the meaning of life, you can depart without any regrets. You are wishing that people could spend their life more purposefully in this world.
Sister, are your unclosed lips trying to tell us about all of the suffering you endured in this human world?
Sister, are your unclosed lips trying to tell us about all of the wonderful things you are seeing in Heaven?
Sister, your younger sister and your parents understand you. Your belief gave you a second chance to live. It was the unforgivably evil people that took your life. They will never escape the large-meshed net of Heaven.
Sister, I want to tell you that you are the pride of our family. You are magnificent. You will always be respected and remembered.
Sister, please close your lips. We all understand your unspoken words. Sister, the day in which the evil beings will be punished will come soon.
Rest in peace, Sister. We wish you a smooth journey.
