The Hong Kong information center for Human rights and Democratic movement reported that the Chinese communist regime arrested several hundred people. In the midnight, the police officers on the Tiananmen Square dispelled Falun Gong practitioners. They beat and kicked some practitioners and then dragged all of them onto the police vans and drove them away. A witness said that the police arrested at least 50 practitioners who tried to hold up yellow banners of Falun Dafa on the Tiananmen Square. Some of them were from overseas, including at least one American citizen. Some practitioners shouted "Falun Dafa" when they were taken away. The journalists and people around were all dispelled away by the police. Some foreign journalists reported that at the dawn, more practitioners were taken away for practicing Falun Gong exercises on the Square. The center reported that Beijing police detained at least 300 practitioners last night. Some of them were from overseas including US, Australia, and Hong Kong etc. They came to Beijing on the Lunar New Year's Day just to appeal for Falun Gong.
