Ms. Zhao Xin, 32 years of age, is currently receiving emergency treatment in Beijing Haidian District Hospital. Ms. Zhao Xin is a teacher at the Business and Economics College of Beijing Industry & Commerce University (formerly Beijing Business College). She holds a Masters degree.
After graduating from the Beijing Business College in 1986, specializing in Market and Commodity Pricing, Ms. Zhao Xin worked in Harbin International Trust & Investment Corp. She returned to Beijing Business College for graduate studies and remained at the college as a teacher after finishing her studies in 1992.
Ms. Zhao became a Communist Party member while attending college. She acted as a student leader during her primary school, high school, college and graduate studies. She served two terms as the president of the Student Association. Ms. Zhao is very diligent, hard working, conscientious and responsible in her work. She has a very modest and friendly personality. University teachers and students all comment that she has a crystal-pure heart.
She started to practice Falun Gong in June 1998, and without any medication, Ms. Zhao recovered from heartburn problems that had plagued her for years. After two years of cultivation, she developed a deep understanding of Dafa and achieved good physical and mental health. In the past year when Falun Dafa was slandered and illegally banned by some government officials, and labeled an evil cult, she became more determined in her practice of Falun Gong and study of Falun Dafa. She also actively joined activities to defend Dafa and was illegally arrested and detained many times by police for appealing to the government or for practicing Falun Gong on Tiananmen Square.
On the evening of June 19, Ms. Zhao, and 20 other Falun Gong practitioners, were arrested as they practiced Falun Gong exercises, at the Mudan Pavilion in Zizhuyuan Park. According to practitioners who have since been released, she refused to co-operate with the police in their arrest of practitioners, so she was transferred to Dongmen Police Station at the park. On June 20, she was escorted to and detained in the detention center of Haidian District along with several other practitioners. Because she refused to give her name and workplace (she didnt give her information until she was admitted to the hospital), it is not hard to imagine the brutal treatment she received.
On the evening of June 22, the guards at the detention center sent Ms. Zhao Xin whose neck had been seriously injured (fractured vertebrae in her neck) to the Bone Injury Department of Haidian Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Since her operation, she has been in a coma with high fever. She is now in very critical condition
