Falun Dafa practitioner Zhao Xin has been sent to the Haiding Hospital, after she was seriously injured while detained in the Haiding Subdivision Detention Center. She has already endured unbearable suffering for countless days and nights. It is her firm belief in the Fa and the unyielding perseverance resulting from that belief that has created this miracle of life. An attendant at the hospital once said, "The fact that Zhao Xin is still alive today is already a miracle." Zhao Xin herself also explicitly stated that she has no regret nor complaint about anything, even if she was asked to make the choice again, she would still choose Dafa.
Zhao Xins family has been by her side, looking after her for quite awhile now. Her mother and sister are taking turns to nurse her 24 hours a day. After more than a month of this, they both became thin and haggard. In order to take care of Zhao Xin, her sister has been unable to attend to her own child who is of school age, nor could she go to work regularly.
Due to the fact that Zhao Xin requires constant care and her relatives were exhausted, the hospital finally granted the familys request to increase the number of visiting attendants. After that, many Falun Dafa practitioners, Zhao Xins classmates and friends all joined in to care for or visit her. At any given moment, there is a friend of Zhao Xin or a concerned person by her bed. Everyone is helping to care for her.
A fellow practitioner who nursed Zhao Xin said, "I didnt know Zhao Xin before. But after I heard about her condition, I felt that I have the obligation to help her - she has suffered so much simply for being a Dafa practitioner. All Dafa practitioners are members of the same big family." When others are in difficulty, even an ordinary person should help, let alone a cultivator. Besides, Zhao Xin really needs someone to read the book and to talk with her. Zhao Xin needs the Fa right now, and dont we also need to improve ourselves?"
Many people took on the duty of nursing Zhao Xin for long periods of time. They make nothing of the difficult and seek neither fame nor reward. Nursing a paralyzed person with four to six fractured vertebrae is not an easy task. By the end of the day, although ones body is tired, ones heart is very fulfilled. Our Xinxing (mind-nature) becomes upgraded and feels as if we have just been refined in a furnace of the Fa.
Some practitioners send Zhao Xin fresh flowers, other practitioners, seeing her family has been financially strained for such a long time, volunteered to help them out financially (but it was not accepted by the family.) So many kind people, whom the family has never met before, voluntarily nursed Zhao Xin with patience and attention to every detail. Even her father and sister, who do not practice Falun Dafa, were deeply touched. They can hardly imagine that in todays world, one can still find people so kind. In the end, even the nurses and doctors attitudes improved. The lofty conduct of the Falun Dafa practitioners refined everything. We are practitioners and nothing we encounter happens accidentally. Even though something may not happen to you directly, as long as you witness or hear it, it is just as if it has happened to you personally; to see how you would react. This is also cultivation.
Inside the hospital, Zhao Xin continues to cultivate and to endure, and so are we. Whenever you see the twisted expression of pain on Zhao Xins face, how does it make you feel? You wish that you could bear the pain for her, yet you can do nothing to help. What do you do? This is a test for our Xinxing, we must have a right mind, our heart must be within the Fa, and we cannot consider things with an everyday persons mentality. We must upgrade our Xinxing, encourage Zhao Xin, and remind her that she is fine. All conditions are good things for a practitioner. As Teacher said, "When it is difficult to endure it, you can endure it; when it is impossible to do it, it is possible to do it." Zhao Xin is worthy for being a determined Falun Dafa practitioner. She has firmly passed each test of life and death. Sometimes, her fever was as high as over 40 Celsius (104 degrees), but she overcame all obstacles. A while back, because Zhao Xin wanted to be released from the hospital, she fasted (no food or water) for four days despite her physical condition. In an extremely difficult physical condition, unimaginable by an ordinary person, she requested the doctors to remove the ventilator which she was dependent upon and stopped breathing through the oxygen mask. Then she asked repeatedly to be released from the hospital. (Note: because Haidian Subdivision didnt want to pay for her medication costs, Zhao Xin cannot be released from the hospital for the time being).
Zhao Xins strength and perseverance is also inspiring us and encouraging us to strive forward. From her mind and spirit, we do not see a person who is seriously injured, instead, we see a great majestic, enlightened being, who has established her mighty virtue with her life, standing on top of her own golden plate of lotus flower. It is so magnificent!
On the surface, it appears that we are taking care of Zhao Xin and helping her, but if you think about it further, Zhao Xin is proving that Dafa is righteous. With her own life, she inspired us and showed what can happen to each one of us if we allow evil things to continue and do not stand up for what is righteous. Doesnt this help us too?
During these past days, Zhao Xin and those who nursed her overcame their tribulations together. Inside the hospital, in this special cultivation environment, through a glance, an expression, and a rock-solid heart for Dafa, we exchange thoughts with Zhao Xin, helping and encouraging each other. Together, we continuously strive forward, improving and readying ourselves to welcome the new day after the rectification of the Fa.
It is just like what is stated in our Teachers poem "Harmonizing Fa:"
The Buddhas light illuminates everywhere and rectifies all abnormalities. Lets strive forward together, a bright future is ahead of us.
