Canada has vast territory, and the people in many cities and towns have not heard of Falun Dafa yet. We were deeply touched when we learned that there was a practitioner who, for one month, traveled alone through several provinces to bring those people books and materials introducing the truth of Falun Dafa. Consequently, several practitioners simultaneously thought of using summer their vacation time to promote Dafa in other provinces.
When I opened up the map of Canada, I discovered that the population for each city is printed before its name on the map. Hence, we can easily narrow down our targets to densely populated cities that have no or few practitioners.
We put our plan into action quickly. Within several days, we prepared thousands of copies of Falun Dafa materials to take with us. We were able to rent a 7-passenger van from Budget at an incredibly low price, about $200US / week with unlimited mileage. We had two drivers and brought along two mobile phones that proved to be very useful during the trip. Many practitioners helped us with our preparations. Some even made Falun Dafa banners for us overnight.
In the early morning of August 3, seven of us left Toronto. We traveled eastbound, passing through Montreal and arrived at Quebec City, some 800km from Toronto, after about nine hours. Quebec City is the capitol of Quebec province, and is built on a long, narrow highland. The St. Lawrence River converges into the Atlantic Ocean here and the scenery is very beautiful. The population is about 60,000 people, the majority of whom speak French. It is the oldest city in Canada and attracts countless tourists each summer. However, there are only a few practitioners here; many of the people have not heard about Falun Dafa.
Around 5:30PM, we contacted the local practitioner, Nicole, on the phone. Because of our attachment to eating Chinese food, we made the wrong decision to go to a Chinese restaurant. It took us almost 2 hours to finish this dinner. Everyone regretted the waste of time. After 7PM, we began to demonstrate the exercises and promote Dafa beside a busy flea market. Soon, people began to watch us with interest so we started giving them the Falun Dafa newspaper in French., We ran out of the French newspapers we had at hand very quickly, so a practitioner rushed back to the van to get more. But there were still more people than French language newspapers, so we gave those who could read English the English version. Two hours flew by and at least two people learned the exercises on the spot. One young man who had previously learned some Taichi, was very interested in Falun Dafa and talked with Nicole for a long time.
