1. [Shanghai] Unlawful Policemen Escalate Suppression of Practitioners During APEC Conference
After National Day (October 1st), most of the practitioners in Shanghai were harassed by vicious policemen. Some were kidnapped and put into brainwashing class, while some experienced harassment through ill-intended phone calls while in the work unit during work hours. Vicious policemen even knocked on their doors at midnight, claiming "before October 26th, I must see you everyday, physically, alive or dead."
Recently, a new round of brainwashing classes has been organized in Shanghai. Some practitioners have left home to avoid this evil suppression and continue clarifying the truth. Some practitioners went back to their hometowns for the National Day holidays. Before they had even arrived at their hometowns, the policemen of the destination city were already notified by the Shanghai Police Department, and were at the practitioners' relatives homes, waiting for them. The Shanghai Police Department asked them to guarantee that the practitioners will not go to Beijing. After October 1st, many practitioners have seen policemen watching their houses again. The policemen do not allow practitioners to leave home, thus depriving them of their basic freedom. The police claimed that the ban would last at least until the end of the APEC (Asian Pacific Economics Cooperation) meeting.
2. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] A True Record of How Hengyang Practitioners Are Persecuted
- Between January 17 and 23, 2001, Luo Gan visited Hengyang City and Zeng Qinghong visited Changsha City (capital of Hunan Province) in order to organize the persecution against practitioners. During these 6 days, mass arrests were carried out in Hengyang City. Over 1600 practitioners were arrested and detained in the Wangjiawan, Baishahu area. They were held in first and second detention centers, temporary watch houses, drug addiction centers, police stations, police substations, and security departments of various work units, as well as the local 610 office (an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.) The methods used to arrest the practitioners included: deceiving practitioners into going to the police station for a 'talk' or having policemen pretend to become friends with practitioners. Policemen would order practitioners to write repentence letters, or otherwise detain them. Some practitioners had their houses surrounded by police and were taken away by force. Police issued a Wanted Warranty to arrest practitioners. Those detained were sentenced to forced labor camps in batches. Many are now detained in Changsha City Pingtang Forced Labor Prison, Xinkaipu Forced Labor Institute, Zhuzhou City Baimalong Forced Labor Camp, Yuyang City Forced Labor Farm.
- On September 1, 2001, some organizations opened an exhibition for slandering Falun Dafa in the Hengyang City No.2 High School Gym. The authorities notified the work units to have the employees organized into visiting the exhibition. Some traitors were arranged to be interviewed on TV.
- The Police Department issued a new policy, following the orders of terrorists Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan, to imprison all people who distributed Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials.
- On August 28 2001, a 78-year-old woman's house was ransacked. Police confiscated her books "Zhuan Falun", "Essentials for Further Advancement" and other Falun Dafa literature. The elderly woman has left home to avoid futher persecution.
- Another elderly woman did not surrender in the face of oppression. She continues practicing the exercises in the public park day after day. A traitor returning from Xinkaipu Forced Labor Institute interfered with the elderly woman, not allowing her to practice and also used pressure from work units and other governmental organizations. The elderly woman changed locations and still practices the exercises in public.
- Practitioner Chang Ming from Anhui Province, working in Hengyang City, was arrested in his work unit at Miaopu Park in March and was detained over a long period. In July, he was severely injured while being interrogated and brutally tortured by the policemen of the city police department. The following day, he was transferred from No. 2 detention center. We still do not know his whereabouts or if he is still alive.
3. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Many Practitioners Kidnapped
Around 10a.m. on September 27, 2001, practitioner Song Hongshui was taken away by policemen from Hebei Technology University Security Department. His wife was forced to leave home. No one is taking care of their school age child.
On the same day, the vicious people also ransacked their home and confiscated the computer, laser printer, truth VCDs, truth flyers and banners. Insiders said Song is being closely monitored and not allowed to see visitors because he insists on cultivating Falun Dafa.
Moreover, during the mass arrest before the National Day Holiday in Shijiazhuang City, only Hezuo Road of Xinhua District had 4 to 5 practitioners detained. This is incomplete information from the neighbors. The actual number of practitioners being arrested is still unknown.
Another source said practitioner Zhao Lishan of Hebei Province Writers' Association escaped from evil forces with righteous thoughts in May (Minghui Chinese website reported him before). He wandered about for some months and was arrested before October 1st. When his family members visited him, they saw blood on his head and on the ground.
We hope that practitioners send forth righteous thoughts to help them escape the evil den as soon as possible.
4. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Despicable Acts of the 610 Office
Around the October 1 National Day of this year, the 610 Office (an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems) of Mudanjiang Municipal Party Committee once again placed portraits of Master Li Hongzhi on the ground at entrances of railroad stations and long distance bus stations. Passengers entering the station were ordered to step on the portraits. Uniformed and plainclothes police officers were deployed nearby. Regardless, passengers all walked around the portraits. Some passengers even confronted this evil act by arguing with the authorities.
I recently ran into a friend of mine, and she told me this story: A colleague of hers was leaving town on business. He saw a large portrait placed on the ground right in front of the ticket booth at the railroad station. He walked to the side to avoid stepping onto the portrait. Someone advanced toward him from nearby and caught hold of him. In an interrogating tone that person said, "Why didn't you step on the portrait?" My colleague responded, "Whose picture is this, on the ground, to be stepped on? I was thinking to pick it up. How uncivilized to step on someone's picture!" The man immediately asked my colleague, "Don't you practice Falun Gong?" My colleague replied, "I don't. But aren't your acts a little too immoral?" Upon hearing this, the man immediately let go of my colleague.
A law enforcement agency resorts to such despicable means to force the public to commit immoral deeds. Where does it intend to guide human morality?
5. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Vicious Politics and Law Committee
In August 2001, Secretary Wang Baozhi and Deputy-Secretary Wu of Dandong Municipal Politics and Law Committee organized brainwashing classes to strengthen their positions and power. Their approach was to have police substations and street offices trap Falun Gong practitioners in police substations. They told practitioners to go to police substations, and that the reason wouldn't take long at all. It turned out that these kind-hearted practitioners were not allowed to leave once they arrived at the substations. If any practitioner refused to go, two police officers would forcibly carry him or her there. In the brainwashing classes, Deputy-Secretary Wu claimed that no one was allowed to go home until they had been transformed. One practitioner refused to cooperate with their evil acts, and was forcibly sent to a labor camp.
Also, husband and wife Yu Dongpeng (spelled from pronunciation) and Lu Jinan were both sentenced to "reeducation" through forced labor. Yu Dongpeng is currently held in Masanjia Labor Camp. Lu Jinan was originally held in Dandong Labor Camp, and currently her whereabouts are unclear.
6. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Criminal Records of Linkou County Police
Deputy-Chief Zhang Shiqiang of the police substation in Sandaotong Town of Linkou County in Mudanjiang City broke the arm of Han Yuxia, a female Falun Gong practitioner. He prohibited her from receiving any medical treatment and illegally held her in custody for 3 months.
On January 5, the No. 1 Detention Center of Linkou County imprisoned Falun Dafa practitioners who went to Beijing to appeal: Feng Shiyu (female, 45-year-old), Gu Guanghou (male, 53-year-old), Ai Fenglan (female, 57-year-old), and Chen Yulan (female, 51-year-old). Before the October 1 National Day, the No. 1 Detention Center held an illegal public trial for these four practitioners and illegally handed them prison terms. Even Linkou County Court wasn't happy with what the No. 1 Detention Center did. But authorities from the detention center said that it was the chief of Linkou County Police Station who ordered the prison terms.

7. [Sanming City, Fujian Province] Seven Falun Gong Practitioners Are Sentenced For 3 to 5 Year Terms in Prison
On April 10, 2001, Meilie Court in Sanming City, Fujian Province sentenced 7 Falun Gong practitioners 3 to 5 years in prison. They were framed and arrested on November 6 of last year under the charge of "sabotaging the implementation of law by making use of XX organizations". One of the 7 practitioners, He Jing, was sentenced to 4 years in prison. He had just graduated from the university and was helping distribute leaflets for the first time. He is currently imprisoned in Minxi Prison of Longyan City.
