(Continued from Part II )
The county police escorted me back and sent me to the county custodial center. I thought I would always remember that I was a Dafa practitioner, and that no matter where I was, I would not discredit Dafa and Master, nor would I acknowledge the arrangement of the old forces. Master said at the Western US Experience Sharing Conference: "What is a Buddha? 'Tathagata' is what humans call someone who's come with the truth and the power to do what he wants, whereas real Buddhas are guardians of the cosmos and are responsible for all righteous elements in the cosmos." Now we should rectify everything that is not righteous. So, I refused to have my hair cut, refused to say "report," refused to have a photo taken and refused to squat at the roll call. The officers asked me: "Why don't you squat?" I replied: "Because I am a Dafa practitioner!" Of course, I refused to wear the clothes for prisoners, but I insisted on practicing the Falun Gong exercises.
In order to prevent me from practicing, they poured cold water on my head and kicked me when I was practicing. But I was absolutely still. At last, they said: "She is really diamond-like [unshakable]." So they no longer stopped me from practicing. At that time, I did not know fear. I only knew that my life was given by Dafa, I must be responsible to Dafa. Master said in the article "Definitive Conclusion:" [the book of Essentials For Further Advancement] "When all sentient beings treasure Dafa, they are treasuring their own lives and being compassionate to all sentient beings." They did not handcuff my hands behind my back any more although I insisted on practicing and refused to accept their orders. The prisoners in the jail said: "It is so strange that she was not back-handcuffed for her strong will. If it were another person, she would have been handcuffed long before. A Dafa practitioner is really great!" I enlightened to what Master said in the article "Eliminate Your Last Attachment:" "If a cultivator can let go of the thought of life and death under any circumstances, evil is bound to be afraid of him. If every practitioner is able to do this, evil will of itself no longer exist. All of you are already aware of the principle of mutual-generation and mutual-inhibition. If you are not afraid, the factor that would make you afraid will become non-existent. This is not to be self-imposed, but is achieved by calmly and truly letting go of it."
On the ninth day at the custodial center, they started to force-feed me. When they started to force-feed me, I suddenly stood up, staring at these vicious lives. I remembered what Master said in "The Great Enlightened" of Hong Yin: [Master's poem collection] "Experienced tens of thousands of tribulations, Two feet treading on thousands of demons; Erect a palm, shaking heaven and earth, In the air stands a giant Buddha." They looked like they were nailed there, and dared not to come in for more than 10 minutes. I struggled when they force-fed me. Six male prisoners could not push me down. At last, they handcuffed me from the back and pried my teeth open with a big wooden stick. Another old practitioner who was in her sixties had been detained in the detention center for more than 7 months. The old practitioner was released to go home at the tenth day of her hunger strike because she was near death. After two force-feedings, my mouth was all broken and bleeding, and the flesh of my face was festering due to their pinching. Later, the Political and Security Department called my mother, asking her to persuade me to eat. I did not eat. But the next day, my desire was up and I had meals for two days. As Master said in the article "Digging Out the Roots:" "It is extremely dangerous to add anything human to cultivation practice." I enlightened that I should continue the hunger strike. Then more severe persecution followed.
Because they could not force-feed me much food, their demon nature broke out. Once, the guard Jiang ordered his associates to force-feed me with cold water. Master said in Zhuan Falun: "I am a person who dislikes fighting with others, nor was it worth a fight with him. Whenever he brought some bad things upon me, I would just clear them up. Afterwards, I would resume my lecturing." So I still promoted Dafa and clarified the truth to them, although they tortured me. At the beginning, some of them did not understand me and asked: "That is fine if you believe in Dafa in your heart. Why do you have to suffer so much?" I told them: "That is the sly method of everyday people, an enlightened being does not have this mentality. He will go to the end once he has chosen a path. In addition, "a teacher for one day is the father of one's whole life" [Note: an old Chinese saying]. Now my Master is on the wanted list and Dafa is under one of the most notorious injustices in history. How could you stand by when your parents are being persecuted? And more, what would you do if both the country and your family needed you at the same time? Shouldn't you take the side of greater importance first? So do we." Some of them said: "It should depend on the situation. If you continue to persist, you will be dead when The Fa is rectified. Who would ever know your sacrifice?" I said: "I am a Dafa practitioner. Master gives Falun to every practitioner. This Falun rotates 24 hours per day, so I will continue doing whatever a practitioner should do. Regarding death, some people died, but they are still alive, while some people are alive but they have already died. History will prove whether I am right or wrong. I am willing to sacrifice everything for the Truth." They listened and understood me this time, and said: "Hope your Dafa will be rectified soon, I will learn Falun Gong in the future." I was very glad to hear so; I was glad for their awakening.
Among them, a guy named Qiu Biao had a greater demon nature. He cut a bloody gash in my mouth. After more than 20 days' of force-feeding, I lost consciousness one night.
After the emergency treatment in the hospital, they thought force-feeding was not useful. They switched to feeding through a stomach tube. They planned to fix the tube to my stomach, so they could force-feed me whenever they wanted. Of course, I would not let them succeed. I could pull it out every time when they inserted it. Once they fed me 3 Jin [about 3.3 lb] of milk. My stomach felt very painful that night and I wanted to go to the bathroom. They did not untie me. I was beyond forbearance and, with my strength, I broke all the bandages that tied my hands and feet. They were all astonished. Obviously, their plan fell through again.
They inserted the tube into my stomach twice a day. After more than 20 days, my nose, throat and esophagus were all wounded, and my stomach was bleeding. I talked to the chief, told them how poor my health condition was. But they still inserted the tube every day. I lost consciousness again due to the difficulty in breathing. Later I was sent to the detention center.
Right after I was transferred to the detention center, I was sent to a hospital because I was still on a hunger strike. Since I did not cooperate with them and pulled out the intravenous infusion tube immediately after it was inserted, they tied me to the bed and made another infusion. During this period, I was extremely weak. But I remembered what Teacher said in "Expounding on the Fa," [an article in Essentials for Further Advancement] "In fact, Dafa is not only to save human beings--it is also taught to all the beings in different dimensions. Your enlightened, original nature will automatically know what to do." When I realized that it was not accidental for me to meet anyone, I kept clarifying the truth to the doctors, nurses, patients and their family members. Every day there were always people coming to my bed to listen to what I said. They liked to listen, so they all knew the truth of the persecution. They all said, "Why are they [the government officials] so cruel to people? Why is the truth different from what is said on television? What is wrong with practitioners cultivating according to Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance and being good people? Do the practitioners deserve to be tortured this way?"
After four days of the intravenous infusion, I was returned to the detention center. I still refused to eat. Five days later, I was sent back to the hospital for emergency treatment. I did not have any feeling below my elbows and knees, which made me unable to take care of myself when I passed stool and urine. Seven doctors including the hospital president came together to diagnose me. Their diagnosis was that I suffered from something incurable and would die soon. Two days later, they released me. Thus, I ended my 118-day detention and 105-day hunger strike, which was like living in hell.
