I walked for two days with the practitioners from Michigan since that was all the time my schedule allowed for. Each day there were six or seven of us. We all had on bright sweatshirts and signs which explained the purpose of the walk. Altogether, I walked thirty miles.
It was very difficult at first as I found myself feeling uncomfortable because of soreness in my legs and because of hunger, having to bear the cold on the first day and the heat on the second. There was also interference from my uncultivated side. It tried to make me angry (although I'm not really sure what it wanted me to be angry at). These tribulations made me feel frustrated at times but, having gone through the course of cultivation, I found that it took only a little persistence to have them pass. As time went on, the soreness in my legs increased, yet I found it easier to continue. It seemed that each step made the following step easier. This was because I could see that this SOS walk was something that had to be done and I knew, with increasing clarity, how trivial my pain was.
When Falun Dafa practitioners in China are persecuted, Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance are persecuted as well. In other words, when people try to damage the Law of the universe, they are actually hurting themselves. These actions are sick, completely evil, and totally intolerable. With each step, the walk became easier for me. I think that on a macroscopic level this SOS walk is also like one more step, because it lays a foundation for the steps that Falun Dafa practitioners will take in the future.
This is my experience and my current understanding.
