1. [Heilongjiang Province] Practitioners at the Wanjia Labor Camp Stage Hunger Strike

Practitioners being held in the Wanjia Labor Camp have begun a hunger strike to protest their detention. In order to prevent another tragedy from happening, we ask people all over the world to pay close attention to this incident and help these practitioners.

2. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Dafa Practitioners Eliminate Evil

The local officials recently held an exhibition that slanders Dafa at the "Northeast Heroes Memorial." As Dafa practitioners in Harbin, how could we let the evil poison and ruin innocent people? After several days of careful and intensive preparations, three huge banners were successfully hung on a building across the street from the exhibition hall on September 27. The two vertical banners were 2.5 feet wide and 30 feet long. The horizontal banner in the middle was 2.5 feet wide and 20 feet long, and it read, "Falun Dafa is Good." The banners hung from the eighth floor of the building, showing their golden background and red characters. The three banners glowed with brilliant light, eliminating the evil with great power and covering a huge area.

3. [China] Truth-Clarifying Literature Touches People's Hearts

In a mid-size city, truth-clarifying literature has been posted or distributed everywhere. Some residents have even accepted reading the literature as part of their daily routine. The local practitioners have been willing to give up everything in order to offer people salvation. Some practitioners gave up their comfortable jobs, yet they never forget about the benevolence and salvation offered by our Teacher, who has suffered a great deal on our behalf. Some were forced to leave their homes to avoid persecution, yet their steps toward their true home (true selves) in their cultivation have become firmer. Some practitioners were arrested and detained, yet they have miraculously changed the evil environment in jails and detention centers. Many practitioners make truth-clarifying materials during the day and spread them during the night to every part of the city. Some practitioners have overcome many financial difficulties and bought vehicles to deliver the literature more quickly. From ordinary citizens and the deputy mayor, practitioners come from all walks of life. All of them are doing what they should do as Dafa practitioners, taking advantage of every opportunity and every resource to protect the truth of the cosmos - "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance." The reason that all of this is happening is very simple - Falun Gong is truly good. It is a commonly accepted fact.

4. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Persecution Breaks Up Practitioner's Family

Dafa practitioner Wang Huiyan is from Lianshan District in Huludao City. She has benefited a great deal from cultivating Dafa. Her husband used to suffer from serious diabetes, but he recovered completely through cultivating Falun Gong. Their family led a happy life until the evil started to persecute Dafa in July 1999. Wang Huiyan went to Beijing to appeal in accordance with the Chinese constitution. Since then, despite the practitioners' efforts, Jiang Zemin and his associates have refused to listen and escalated the persecution of practitioners. They have arrested and beaten the practitioners, forcing them to write letters promising not to practice Falun Gong. Wang firmly refused to write the "guarantee letter" and still steadfastly cultivates Dafa. The local officials sentenced her to the Masanjia Labor Camp, where she has been brutally tortured. It has been more than two years since she was first sent to the Masanjia Labor Camp, and her whereabouts are unknown. Her family members are not allowed to visit her. Wang Huiyan has three children under 18 years old and very frail parents in law in their 80's. Her children want their mother, and the elderly parents miss their daughter in law. A happy family was thus broken.

In China, many practitioners have been cruelly persecuted just like Wang Huiyan. We sincerely call for all the kind-hearted people to extend their hand for justice, to resist the persecution against Dafa and help the benevolent Dafa practitioners.

5. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Retired Teachers Sentenced To Labor Camp

On October 17, the Harbin City Police Department sentenced practitioner Zhan Shizhong, a 67-year-old college teacher from Heilongjiang University, to two years in labor camp. Zhan is to be sent to the Changlinzi Labor Camp next week. On the same day, the officials sentenced several other elderly practitioners to labor camp after torturing them repeatedly. Practitioner Zhan Shizhong played a leading role in speaking out against the persecution and going on a hunger strike. Right before October 1, when Zhan's family members went to see him, he was frail and exceedingly thin. We hope that people from all walks of life will condemn the inhuman and illegal actions of the Harbin City Police Department.

6. [Baicheng City, Jilin Province] More Practitioners Arrested in Baicheng, Jilin Province

On October 8, 2001, Diao Shujun (male) and another practitioner were arrested by police while they were clarifying the truth in a rural area. The police had been told where to find them by locals in exchange for money. The practitioners are currently detained in Baicheng Detention Center. We would like to warn those who commit crimes against Falun Dafa that if you continue to do so, the time will soon arrive when you will have to pay for it. We hope that you will have a sense of justice, think about your own and your family's future, and position yourself properly during the Fa-rectification period.

7. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Forced to Become Homeless, Shuangcheng, Heilongjiang Province

Wang Hongliang and his wife Wen Dongling were arrested by police while clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa to villagers in Yongjun Village, Jincheng Township. The police were given a tip by several local people, who had exchanged the information for money Wang was forced to stay away from his home. His wife is being detained in Shuangcheng No.2 Detention Center, leaving their 70 year old mother and seven year old child at home alone, barely able to look after themselves. The situation is heartbreaking. Authorities tried to extort money from the family. When they failed, they resorted to dirty tricks such as eliminating Wang's resident status and therefore stripping him of the piece of land that his family lives on. Grandma and the child have no food on the table and no wood to cook with, and winter is coming.

This is ironic in light of Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan's claim that China currently enjoys the best human rights record. Families are broken and good people are forced to live on the street.

8. [China] Sound of Falun Dafa Heard at a Market for Over Two and a Half Hours

On October 15, 2001, a practitioner successfully set up a loudspeaker in a tree near a market. Many people were listening under the tree. The practitioner continued to send forth righteous thoughts in the middle of the crowd to help the public understand the truth and to expose and dispel all evil lies, effectively eliminating the evil force.

Before he set up the loudspeaker, the practitioner sent forth righteous thoughts with the intent to eliminate the evil elements that hinder the Fa-rectification process and to let the maximum possible number of people hear the sound of Falun Dafa. The loudspeaker continued to broadcast for two and a half hour without being interrupted. With righteous thoughts, the practitioner was able to take down the loudspeaker and went home safely.

10. [Taian, Shandong Province] Practitioners Arrested While Speaking to Tourists

on Mount Tai on the Eve of Mid-Autumn Festival, Shandong Province

Shortly before the Mid-autumn Festival, some practitioners went to Mount Tai to clarify the truth of Falun Dafa and to expose the evil to the tourists. Police were found everywhere in the Mount Tai area, on the lookout for Falun Dafa practitioners. It has been confirmed that many practitioners from Jinan, Weifang and Jining were arrested. Witnesses said that three female practitioners were arrested near Zhongtianmen and were carried forcefully by the police to the local police station. Those arrested continued to chant, "Falun Dafa is the Righteous Way", "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is the Universal Principle", "Please Remember Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." Astonished tourists responded to the heartfelt calls from the practitioners, even as they were being hauled off by the police, by continuously acknowledging what they heard.
