November 23, 2001
The human rights dialogue between UK and China ended in London on November 21, 2001. During the three-day conference, Falun Dafa practitioners from Britain practiced Falun Gong exercises in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UK, and displayed banners and distributed truth-clarifying literature with a permit from London police. In the evening, they practiced, sent forth righteous thoughts, and called on Jiang Zemin's regime to stop persecuting Falun Gong.
During the conference, the practitioners hung banners that read "Falun Dafa," "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," "Urgent rescue the Falun Gong practitioners being tortured in China," "Dismiss 610 Office," and "Sue and Punish Luo Gan" in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UK. They also distributed Dafa truth-clarifying materials to passers-by. Some people who misunderstood Falun Gong before couldn't help but respect Dafa practitioners after seeing their pure minds and peaceful practice. A Christian who had misunderstood the practitioners before passed the site and took the Dafa literature. On the second day, he returned to the practitioners' practice site, shook the hand of a practitioner, and said, "I misunderstood you. I never thought that Falun Gong practitioners in China were so cruelly tortured, and yet you are still so peaceful." When learning that most of the practitioners had not eaten, he insisted on inviting us to a restaurant. We declined and were gratified that one more person knew the truth.
On the first day of the Dialogue, The British Falun Dafa Association submitted an appeal letter with over 10,000 signatures calling on the UK Government to try all means to urgently rescue the Falun Gong practitioners being tortured and terrorized in China.
It has been reported that during the dialogue, the UK Government exerted more pressure on Jiang Zemin's Government to stop the persecution against Falun Gong and the retaliation and harassment against the Falun Gong practitioners in Britain. As of now, more than 52 Members of Parliament have signed a letter that demands Jiang Zemin's Government to immediately stop the persecution against a couple practicing Falun Gong and issue a legal Chinese passport to their daughter born in Britain.
The condemnation from the UK Government of Jiang Zemin's Government is becoming more determined. An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UK said that the Chinese Embassy unreasonably and strongly asked the UK Government to make sure no Falun Gong practitioners were present during the visit of Hu Jintao, the Chinese Vice President. The British government firmly rejected the Chinese Embassy's unreasonable interference. The British police especially arranged the appeal site for Falun Gong practitioners, making sure that Hu Jintao must pass through and see the protestors. The British police said, "We understand that the petitioners must be within the sight of the officials being appealed to before it can be called a petition. Otherwise, if petitioners cannot be seen by those who are being appealed to, that cannot be called a legitimate petition."
