On the evening of Monday November 5, around 120 Falun Gong practitioners in Toronto held a candlelight vigil in front of the Chinese Consulate to condemn the recent severe escalation of the persecution taking place in Falun Gong's birthplace - Changchun ("The City of Eternal Spring"), in northeastern China.

On Sunday, Nov. 4, about 100 Dafa practitioners from the greater New York area held a press conference, demonstrated the exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts in front of the Chinese Consulate. The truth of the brutal persecution of Dafa practitioners in Changchun City was revealed to the international community. Changchun City is the hometown of Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa, and the place where Falun Dafa was first made public.

The protest coincided with those all across the nation: demonstrators are angry about escalating violence against Falun Gong believers in China. Falun Gong was outlawed there back in 1999 after the number of followers grew to more then 70 million. Falun Gong is not a religion, but a faith that focuses on self-improvement through meditation".
