(Clearwisdom.net) On December 1st, 2001, the first South East Asian Experience Sharing Conference was held in Singapore. More than five hundred Falun Gong practitioners from Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and other countries came to attend this conference. There were more than two hundred and eighty practitioners from Taiwan. Attendees shared their cultivation experiences with each other and also expressed their support for Falun Gong practitioners suffering from persecution in Mainland China.
On the afternoon of November 30th, the Singapore Falun Buddha Fa Society held a press conference in the Haijing Hotel. We talked about the upcoming experience sharing conference. Then, a statement was made in support of the thirty-six Western Falun Gong practitioners who held a peaceful demonstration on Tiananmen Square on November 20. They were arrested and expelled by the Chinese authorities. Quite a few photos taken during the peaceful demonstration on Tiananmen Square were on display. We also showed a video of the event.
It was suggested in the statement that Falun Gong practitioners all over the globe start a world event "SOS! Global RescueWalk" in their own countries. The purpose of this action would be to call people's attention to and acquaint them with the fact that Falun Gong practitioners in mainland China are suffering from brutal persecution. Practitioner Zhu Wanqi from Taiwan told us that there are about one hundred thousand Falun Gong practitioners in Taiwan. There are seven hundred and fifteen exercise sites there, with practitioners coming from all walks of life.
During the press conference, a fifty-five year old Chinese Indonesian lady, Chen Wanyuan, shared her experience of the Nov. 20th Tiananmen Square event. She was arrested and expelled from China.
