One of my daughters, Chen Chaohui, began to listen to the Fa (Law and Principles) at three years old. Before she was four years old, she was able to see the "Sanhua Juding" (three flowers on one's head). She said to me, "Our teacher told me a long time ago that some people will have three flowers above their heads, and I have this also." I was very surprised upon hearing this because I did not know this child had made progress so fast. Since then, I have often thought about this, and it moves me to tears and encourages me to cultivate more diligently.
Chaohui is five years old now. By looking back at her cultivation experience, we can see the magnificence of Buddha Law everywhere. As a five-year-old girl, there is not much difference in her human side than other kids of that age. However, she is very mature in her side that has enlightened. One time, I did not do well in the cultivation of speech, so she covered my mouth with both her hands. There were no other practitioners in our family, so she never discussed the things she saw through her third eye with them. And she does not allow them to criticize Falun Gong. Sometimes, when her sister was scared of something, Chaohui said, "Our teacher will protect us, and there is nothing to be afraid of." Sometimes, her sister did not listen to what we said, and she was told, "If you continue to act like this, we will spank you." Chaohui said, "No, don't spank her since our teacher said not to hit others. There might be a better way." Whenever there are some people on TV with an eccentric hairstyle or not much clothing on, she would say, "They are not practitioners and they have bad manners." She would also cover her eyes and turn off the TV. Chaohui often asks her dad to practice, and shows him how to cross his legs. She also sometimes kneels down on the ground to thank our teacher, saying that he is from heaven. What is even more surprising is how well she can handle the inference that she sees with her third eye. One day last November, she said a tall clown came to the house. The clown was so tall that it was even hard to see his head. The clown also did some exercises, which were different from what our teacher told us. The clown wanted to teach Chaohui those exercises, but was rebuffed. She said, "Please leave here and go home. I already have a teacher." The clown then tapped her fingers, and Chaohui called our teacher for help. Our teacher came and reprimanded the clown. Then a Bodhisattva came and made the clown as big as a two-year old. Since then, the clown has never returned.
I was also impressed by Chaohui's attitude over sickness karma. Once for 5 consecutive days, she was vomiting and had a fever. She hardly ate anything for five days. From the beginning, she asked to listen to our teacher's lecture. She thus listened to the lectures for five days. I asked if she was tired, and she said, "I am not tired at all from listening to our teacher's lectures." In the afternoon on Thursday, she began to sleep and did not wake up until the next morning. I told her that our teacher's lecture in Canada would be shown at Stanford at noon that day and asked if she wanted to go. She said yes. I then asked her if she would be tired since it was a long trip. She said it was OK. I carried her on my back and went to the lecture. She went to sleep after we came back. She did not wake up until the next morning and by then she was totally OK. She then went to a park to play, quite different from most people who need some time to recover after a severe sickness. Whenever I look back at this, I am continually impressed by her tolerance and amazed that cultivation of Buddha Law has created a life of such perseverance.
Her maturity can also be seen in her constant, incessant desire to listen to our teacher's lectures. She is very happy to listen to our teacher's lecture as well as the exercise music. She attended kindergarten when she was three years old; and she was seldom naughty during the time I played the lectures while driving to the kindergarten. When we walked out the door to start the car, she did not have many requests except to listen to the lectures. She often listened to the lectures at home when she was playing. She said she needed to listen more since she had not fully understood. Because there are no other practitioners in our family, there was some resistance when she first started to listen to them. Once, when her dad disagreed with her listening to the lectures, she came to me and whispered, "How could he not like such good lectures? Let's continue after he goes to work." When others did not agree on her listening to the lectures, she went to bed and continued listening under the quilt. Many times, she said to her dad, "I will not stop listening to these lectures." Since she was so persistent, other people had to concede and nobody interfered with her any more. Thus, she created a good atmosphere for herself as well as me. Influenced by us, my husband also listened to Zhuan Falun many times. Although he has not started to practice it, he is not against it any more after understanding what I am doing. On the contrary, he has become very supportive. For example, he often drives us to attend our group study and so on. We are very thankful to him.
For someone who does not practice, it can be hard to realize the magnificent and supernatural side of Buddha Law. Since Chaohui's native language was Cantonese (a branch of Chinese language), she could speak very little of Mandarin (the primary branch of Chinese language). However, she was able to say many things in Mandarin related to Falun Dafa. During the Christmas holiday last year, her dad drank some wine during a party. She said to him, "Our teacher does not drink. It would be beneficial if you could stop drinking." When we talked about the Heavenly Circuit, she pointed to herself and said, "This is a Heavenly Circuit." She also knows that doing the exercises can increase one's longevity. She was able to see the rotating Falun and the shining of our teacher's name. She was also able to see our teacher's Law Body almost everyday, or in her own words, "Our teacher visits me everyday." She asks her sister to sleep with her and says, "If you sleep in my room, whenever our teacher comes, he can also see you." One day, she was a little disappointed, since our teacher did not visit her. I asked her why. She replied, "Our teacher did not come because when my sister hit me, I fought back." I did not expect that the child would understand so much, that one has to pay back if he or she does something bad. She is really walking towards understanding the truth and becoming mature.
