Supporters of the human rights of China's persecuted Falun Dafa followers maintained their vigil outside the Chinese Embassy in Yarralumla yesterday, insisting that the 15 who have just died in a labour camp did not commit suicide but were murdered by guards. Philip Law, one of a dozen people at yesterday's vigil, said that the 15 could not have killed themselves as the Chinese Government alleges (the Government also says that 11 more were thwarted in their suicide attempts and are in hospital) because violence, including violence towards oneself, was forbidden to the movement's followers. Mr Law alleged that in recent days in China, and because the Chinese Government was encouraging hostility towards the movement, a female member of the spiritual movement was raped in a public place in circumstances the authorities could have prevented.
