DAY 2
START: 7 am, Canterbury Train station
END: 5:30 pm, Ingleburn Train station
We travelled all the way from Canterbury train station, down Canterbury road, Milperra Road, Newbridge Road, Hume Highway and then exited to Ingleburn.
Media coverage:
Local newspapers:
- Photographer from Express (no interview)
- Reporter, Kai, from Torch -- interviewed a number of practitioners about their experiences and also about Olympic game bid -- seems to be the big news of the day!
- Photographer from Champion (no interview -- will use info from press release)
- Photographer, Photographer/Reporter from Cumberland group (covers 4 papers: Bankstown Express, Liverpool Leader, Macquarie Chronicle and Fairfield...(something)) -- interviewed Jenny.
- Will call ... for phone interview with local area practitioners doing the walk next Monday when it is more convenient for them.
EXPERIENCE:
We only needed our raincoats for about 20 minutes today. After the fog lifted around 11 am, the day started to heat up and so did our pace. 35 practitioners joined the walk today down busy Canterbury Road, with many cars and trucks beeping and waving in support as they drove by.
We were right on schedule to meet local journalists and photographers along the way and managed to keep almost everyone together for the whole walk. As my blisters swelled up, I was amazed by the endurance of the 72-year old lady, who set the pace, well ahead of us all, on the last leg to Ingleburn, and 11-year old Tim, who walked almost the entire 35 km and was always able to jump to the front with a smile and keep up with (if not ahead of!) my long legs, with his sore feet and all!
Tomorrow we will start the journey at Ingleburn and will continue on the M5 for a few days. We have to consider traffic and all walk in a group on the motorway, so our numbers may be a bit fewer. We are 2 days, 50 km into the journey. Although it is painful, it is not painful at the same time. "When it is difficult to endure, you can endure it. When it is impossible to do, you can do it." (Zhuan Falun) Time moves so fast, that I am forgetting what day it is! In two week's time, I will hardly remember any pain that I may have felt on this journey -- so let's walk on!
