According to reliable sources, sixty practitioners were released from Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Center after they were forced to renounce Dafa. Forty of them came back to Dafa cultivation. Some of them went to validate Dafa in Tiananmen Square soon after they were released.

[Shengli Oil Field, Shandong Province] Beijing Police Detain Female Dafa Practitioners Cha Aiping and Wang Haixia from Shengli Oil Field

Practitioner Cha Aiping is a 27-year-old woman. In January 2000, her work unit detained her, one day before the local practitioners' group practice at Shengli Oil Field's Xishui Park. At the end of September 2000, Cha Aiping began to vomit blood after she went on a hunger strike for more than seven days. Under repeated requests from her family, her work unit authorities let her go home because they did not want to take the responsibility for the condition of her health. She was kept under surveillance at home. Cha Aiping could not tolerate such a situation and had to leave home. She has become a homeless person. Beijing police illegally detained her on May 1, 2001. She was not allowed to receive any visitors. All information about her was blocked.

Practitioner Wang Haixia, female, 24 years old, was from the Shengli Oil Field Shengbei District Power Supply Institute's Affiliated Clinics. She went to Beijing many times to validate Dafa. In January 2000, Wang Haixia joined the group practice in Shengli Oil Field's Xishui Park. As a result, she was detained. She was locked up in the dark and cold basement of the clinic where there was no furniture. In the cold of winter she had to sleep on the cement floor and was detained under these circumstances for over 40 days. A kind-hearted person felt sympathetic and sent in a wooden board for her to sleep on. When the head of the clinics found out, he even tried to implicate the kind-hearted person who supplied the board. On October 1, 2000, Wang Haixia went to validate Dafa in Beijing. After she came back she was detained again. The leaders from the Shengbei District decided to send her to the Education Institute. The night before, Wang Haixia decided to leave home. Since then, her whereabouts are unknown. In May 2001, we heard that the Beijing Police had detained her with Cha Aiping. They were not allowed to return to Shandong Province.

We are now investigating the details of the torture of the two Dafa practitioners by the Beijing police.

[Shengli Oil Field, Shandong Province] Mental Hospital Tortures Practitioners Zhang Zhi and Jiang Haisong

Practitioner Zhang Zhi, male, about 30 years old, is from the Shengli Oil Field Hekou District. Before October 2000, he was once forcibly put into a mental hospital to be tortured for insisting on practicing Falun Gong exercises. In the hospital he was forced to take medicine and was shocked with electric batons. On October 1, 2000 he was detained after he went to validate Dafa in Beijing. Later, he was illegally sentenced to forced labor as he distributed truth-clarifying literature. We have heard that he has been incarcerated again in a mental hospital.

Practitioner Jiang Haisong, male, 28 years old, is an employee of Shengli Oil Field's Central Transportation Company and was detained when he distributed truth-clarifying literature. He was put into a detention center for a month and then transferred into the Wangcun Detention Center. It is said he was sent to Shengli Oil Field No.8 Factory's Mental Hospital after a short detention center stay. He was forced to take medicine and receive injections at this mental hospital.

A female practitioner named Chen Fengxian, 51 years old, a Russian translator, was detained in the third term of the brainwashing class held by the so-called "Beijing Law System Education Center." She was forced to attend brainwashing classes, twice at her work unit and another one in the Chaoyang District. This time she was forcibly taken to the brainwashing class in the Tuanhe Detention Center. She did not submit. The vicious people all realized she would be resistant to brainwashing. There had been many "brainwashing assistants" and detention center unit heads coming and going, including the education department's director, reporters, and psychology specialists. None of these outsiders could get her to change her righteous thoughts. The group leader said respectfully, "Xian could not be persuaded to change her mind."

The lawless officials found all possible excuses to charge her. Chen Fengxian is recognized as a good person, both in her work unit and at her home. She did not speak much in the brainwashing class, but remained calm at all times. As Chen Fengxian was single, the mobsters fabricated shameless lies in order to persecute her. We heard that the police are processing her case. It is unknown where she will be sent. The lawless official could not change this Dafa practitioner's righteous thoughts, no matter how hard they had tried. All their tricks had been exhausted. The only means left to them was to slander, smear and frame practitioners.

[Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] The Righteous Thoughts of a Dafa Practitioner's Family

Nine months ago, Li, a female practitioner of Falun Dafa in Shijiazhuang, was forced to leave home. Influenced by Li, her husband, Zheng, started to read Dafa's books before she left home. To safely and steadily do Dafa work and clarify the truth about Dafa in the long term, Li has never contacted her family since the time she left.

Li's mother is also a practitioner but she could not let go of her worries for her daughter. Zheng advised his mother-in-law, "Your daughter is cultivating to become a Buddha. You do not need to worry about her. You should worry about how to get rid of your own attachments!"

Li's father missed his daughter very much and thought that his son-in-law knew where his daughter was. He made him go out to find her, even when Zheng, Li's husband, had just returned home from work and was extremely tired. Li's father even said that he would rather let the police arrest his daughter so that he would at least see the end of this uncertainty, even though his daughter could be sentenced to eight or ten years in jail. Zheng, who always respected his father-in-law, firmly told him, "The police station is the dirtiest evil den; how dare you wish for your own daughter to be there? Do you really care about her or do you just want to harm her? If you want to go to look for her you can go, but I'll absolutely not go! " His father-in-law therefore had to give up.

Facing his own parents, brothers, and sisters-in-law, who tried to persuade him to divorce Li, Zheng answered assertively, "I am the one who lives with her. As long as she is safe out there, she can come back whenever she wants." Thereafter, no one ever mentioned it again.

Both grandmothers took care of the couple's daughter, who was almost four years old. Once, when the little girl's grandmother came to see her, she sat in double lotus position and had her hands conjoined, said, "Grandma, look!" Her grandma asked, " What are you doing?" She said, "I am practicing Falun Gong." Her grandma said, "Don't practice it. It is not good." The little girl then corrected her grandma, "It is good! Falun Gong is good!" Her grandma said again, "It is not good." The little girl then told her grandma loudly, "It is good! Falun Gong is good!" Looking at the innocent child, the grandma was silent.

Under this unprecedented, ferocious persecution of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance," "...all people with righteous thoughts...all everyday people with righteous thoughts are standing up against this." Linyi City Dafa practitioner Song Yulong was arrested while posting Dafa truth-clarifying literature. Police severely tortured him. Details are still unknown.

Police found that Linyi City Dafa practitioner Li Dayong contacted Song Yulong. Police from Linyi Mineral Industry Department's police department required him to tell his contacts with all Dafa disciples and asked him to break from Dafa; otherwise, he would be sent to the "legal department." On July 20, 1999, Li Jinhu from the Old Cadre Bureau of Baoding City, Hebei Province was illegally sentenced to 1.5 years in prison and also fired from work. In 1996, I was lucky to obtain Dafa through a fellow practitioner. My health became better and better, my face looked healthy and pink, and my body became so light. I no longer had any diseases.

Jiang Zemin started to persecute Falun Gong on July 22, 1999. Since then, because of my lack of Fa study, I was afraid of persecution and dared not practice anymore. After I gave up practicing, my health became worse and worse. All the old diseases came back.. I had to take more than eight kinds of medicine everyday, plus injections from time to time. Even though I received many medical treatments, not only did my diseases not go away, they became more serious. I spent all the money I had saved during the time I practiced the exercises. Even that was not enough! I had to spend more. My neighbor asked me to climb the hill with her and said that it could help to build up the body. I started to climb the hill with her every morning. One morning, I fainted and fell to the ground after walking only a few steps from home. When I woke up I realized that I had to practice Falun Gong. Even just the thought made me feel much better. Once again I returned to the path of cultivation. Now, my health is becoming better and better and my face looks pink and healthy. I am 58 years old now, but whoever sees me would tell me that I am becoming younger and younger and I look like I am in my 40's. This time I have made up my mind to steadfastly cultivate Dafa. I will never give it up again and will play the role of a particle in the Fa-rectification process.

Practitioner Li Yufen, female, 60 years old, retired employee of Shijiazhuang Cigarette Factory. By the end of April 2001, she was arrested when distributing truth-clarifying literature to the public. Later on, her family bailed her out, but the leader of the factory did not let her go and forcibly brainwashed her for nearly three months. We have heard they will probably extend her detention term for another month.

Under Jiang Zhemin's pressure, the officials in Shijiazhuang's Cigarette Factory have been persecuting Dafa practitioners from time to time. In January 2001, they illegally sent female practitioners Guo Rongxiu and Li Yufen to a brainwashing class after they went to Beijing to appeal. They suspended Guo and Li's salaries and only gave them the minimum subsistence allowance.
