Tortured to death in China

GLOBAL SOS APPEAL

Sunshine Coast Falun Dafa Practitioners wish to offer our deepest respects to
Ms. Wang Lixuan, aged 27, and her 8 month old baby who were recently tortured to
death in China. We invite you to join us for a candlelight memorial, which will
be held beside Mooloolaba beach on Friday evening, July 20th, 7-8pm
(the 2nd anniversary of the Chinese Government's brutal crackdown). Although
Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) is practiced and supported in over 40 countries
throughout the world, many tens of thousands of people are being persecuted
daily in China. Over 250 have been tortured to death for simply practicing this
ancient system of meditation exercise, which upholds the universal qualities of
Truth, Compassion and Tolerance. We as concerned citizens send an SOS to the
Australian public and the world, asking for your support as we peacefully appeal
to end this brutal persecution against so many innocent people. For more

Sunshine Coast practitioners placed the above photo and notice in the "In Memoriam" section of the major newspaper in our local area on the eve of July 20th, 2001 to coincide with the many activities relating to the urgent "Global SOS Appeal," here in Australia and overseas. We thought this would be an effective way to clarify the truth and raise awareness about the continuing persecution of our fellow practitioners in China. By offering an invitation to the local community to join us in a peaceful candlelight memorial, the public could learn more about Dafa and position their hearts accordingly.
After receiving written confirmation of our proposed notice from the newspaper, a P.S. was also added which read, "Thanks for bringing tears to the eyes of everyone in this building". The effectiveness of our notice was thereby validated a day before it was set to print. Our hearts were touched by this kind response!
Surely few could refrain from extending their hearts when discovering that this young mother and her baby had recently been tortured to death!
Somewhere, amidst the rush of deadlines, a number of everyday people within the newspaper office had awakened to a greater sense of conscience. Perhaps it was the thought of the innocence of a brand new life brutally betrayed, or the plight of a mother, one of so many having lost their lives upholding the precious qualities of Truth, Compassion and Forbearance, the fundamental principles of life itself.
Prior to posting this notice, we hadn't had much success when inviting the local media to give coverage of Falun Dafa's persecution. However, immediately after the newspaper went to print, a reporter from ABC contacted us for an on the spot radio interview, and the editorial department printed a further "Human Rights" excerpt the following day. The radio report was repeated on the local news on July 20th, the second anniversary of the crackdown. The truth of the persecution of Dafa was clarified to many at this time including a young girl who contacted us to find out more information in order to present a project at school on Jiang Zemin's relentless campaign.
During the candlelight memorial, we received numerous honks of support from motorists passing by. It felt as though people had actually seen the newspaper notice or heard the radio interview.
Let us become even more diligent towards "assisting Master in the human world!" In Master's words from "Hong Yin:"
In Harmony With The Fa
"The Buddha light illuminates everywhere,
Proprietary and justice rectify and harmonize everything.
Strive forward together,
A bright future lies ahead".
Thank you Master Li for offering humankind the opportunity to assimilate to this precious Fa and return to the accord of our true nature!
Sunshine Coast Practitioners.
