On August 13, Professor Jacques Lamontagne from the University of Montreal drove the four hour round trip from Montreal to Ottawa to hold a 4-hour sit-in in front of the Chinese Embassy to call for an end to the persecution.
Since the year 2000, the Chinese Embassy has repeatedly refused appeal letters from the Falun Gong practitioners. Before the Press conference started, however, Professor Lamontagne was able to deliver an appeal letter in English to the Chinese Embassy, which called on the Chinese government to stop the brutal persecution of detained Falun Gong practitioners.
