(Clearwisdom.net) On August 25, at 12:00 PM sharp, Jin Huijuan and her daughter Wang Jinwei ended the 268-hour sit-in which started on August 13. They have declared the end of this appeal.
The following is part of the declaration:
Twelve days ago, we had started a 263-hour sit-in in order to commemorate the lives of 263 Dafa practitioners who were known to have been tortured to death. However, during these several days, the number of practitioners who died from torture has increased to 268. We therefore extended the time of appealing to 12:00 PM today. We feel that every minute that we spend here is the revelation of a magnificent story of validating Dafa; every minute is equivalent to a very precious life and a determined heart; every minute demonstrates the greatness of the deceased practitioners who could let go of earthly fame, gain, and sentiment. Our teacher said: "Grand talk counts for naught when it comes to life and death, actions reveal what is true." ("The Knowing Heart") With their own lives, they have awakened people's consciousness and encouraged every fellow practitioner. The evil persecution should have ended with the kind-hearted people's appeals all over the world. We shall continue trying our best to appeal peacefully until Jiang's regime stops the suppression of the universal principles of "truthfulness, compassion and forbearance" and the destructive torture of lives.
On the fifth day of our sit-in, we started a hunger strike along with other practitioners asking for the immediate release of the 130 practitioners who had been detained in the Masanjia Labor Camp. They are carrying out a hunger strike in order to be freed. We have been hoping to have a peaceful dialogue with the Chinese government for the past two years, but this has not happened. At this time our hunger strike has entered the eighth day and our lives were in danger. We have tried three times to hand in a letter appealing for our rights to the Chinese Embassy, and each time we were rudely rejected. My mother and I have decided to go to New York and hand in our letter of appeal to Kofi Annan, the secretary of the United Nations. We call on all the kind-hearted people in this world to support us and to help resolve the crisis in China.
