SCMP: Falun Gong to complain about sit-in ruling

Falun Gong followers are to lodge a complaint with the Legislative Council about the police rejection of their request to stage a sit-in outside Beijing's Liaison Office. The group said it would write to the complaints division of the Legco Secretariat about the force's refusal to let them conduct the protest outside the office's main entrance. [...]

The practitioners, who later moved to a protest zone near the office, had asked to be allowed to stage a sit-in outside the main entrance for at least two hours a day but were turned down on Monday.

Police said they had received two obstruction complaints from the Liaison Office, but insisted their removal action on Saturday was not prompted by political pressure.

The hunger strikers yesterday announced they would end their fast at 9am today, but said other 10 other members take over the protest.

The hunger-strikers will be replaced every four days.

The members are fasting in support of mainland practitioners detained in three labour camps who have been refusing food for more than three weeks in protest against the delayed release of some followers.
