In 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was expelled by the school. In December 2000, while distributing Dafa truth-clarifying literature, he was illegally imprisoned by Wuhan police. Later he was sent to a brainwashing class. After he refused to give in, he was sentenced to one and half years in a forced labor camp.
Shang Jiapin, 22, lives in the residential complex of Plant #50 in Shiyan City, Hubei Province. He graduated in 1999 from the Mechanical and Electrical program in the Central China Science and Technological University's Professional Institute. He was arrested along with Chen Weipeng and sentenced to forced labor camp. The persecution he suffered is the same as that by Chen Weipeng.
Yao Zhiwen, 31, is a software engineer in Wuhan Public Security Department's Division Six. After he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 2000, he was put into a so-called "Law Education Class" in Jiang-An District and held there for 8 months. During the detention, he tore up a sign that slandered Falun Gong. As a result, he was illegally sentenced to one year at a forced labor camp.
Li Xinglian, 50, works at Yangtze River Transportation Group's Wuhan Branch. Because he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, he was sentenced to one year of forced labor.
Liu Zhihua, 53, is a worker at Wuhan Railroad Bureau's Wuchang Maintenance Department and a senior Party member. His term should be over on January 26, 2002.

In December 2000, he and several fellow practitioners went to Beijing's Tiananmen Square, where they displayed a banner and took pictures of the event. He was arrested on March 29, 2001 by Wuhan Police Department's Division One and detained by Division Seven's Number Two Section for one month. After that, he was transferred to Hanchuan's No.1 Detention Center for two additional months. On June 27, 2001, he was sentenced to one and half years of forced labor and sent to the 7th Brigade.
In mid-November, Mr. Liu Li was brutally beaten by Captain Duan Weizhong because he refused to accept the forced labor assignment. Duan hit and kicked his chest, back and lower abdomen. As a result, Liu's chest rib bone was fractured, and the kidneys were severely injured. The kidney injury caused Mr. Liu to have trouble urinating and blood in his urine.
Sheng Zhengping, a 30-year-old college graduate, is an engineer at Wuhan Iron and Steel Design Institute. Because he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and distributed Falun Gong truth-clarifying literature, he was sentenced to one year of forced labor.
Yu Fei, male, is currently detained at a labor camp.
Zhu Zhengxue, 56, was sentenced to one year of forced labor.
Ding Yong, 60, lives at 211 Hanyang Street. He is a retired worker of Wuhan Bus Factory. He was
sentenced to one year of forced labor for going to appeal in Beijing.
Xu Ping, 36, is an employee at Wuhan Pipeline Gas Company. Because he made Dafa truth-clarifying materials, the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] followed him many times. His phone was also monitored. On February 19, 2001, he was arrested and later transferred to Jianghan District's brainwashing class. He never yielded to the pressure and was sentenced to one year of forced labor.
Mei Aiping, 33, is a worker at No. 3541 Factory in Hanyang District's Xintianpu area. In November
1999, she went to the Beijing Appeals Office to appeal for Falun Gong, and
was sentenced to one year of forced labor. Forty-eight days later, she was forced to give up
practicing Falun Gong and was subsequently released. Later, she realized her mistake and openly
declared all of her so-called "guarantees" [to no longer practice or appeal]
invalid. On June 20, 2001, she was again sentenced to one and half years in a forced labor camp.

Various methods that Wuhan Hewan Forced Labor Camp uses to persecute Falun Gong practitioners:
1. They forbid Falun Gong practitioners to see their families, relatives, friends and colleagues. Even loved ones that traveled thousands of miles to see practitioners were turned away.
2. No phone calls. No private letters. Letters are written under supervision and the contents must be approved by the police. Outgoing mail was purposefully delayed for up to two months. Incoming mail is read by police first. They decide to either withhold it indefinitely or let the practitioners read it. The practitioners must return the letters to the police.
3. Actual criminals are entitled to term reduction, but not Falun Gong practitioners.
4. The camp assigned two informants to each Falun Gong practitioner. The informants' job is to watch
the practitioners around the clock and to prevent them from talking to each other. Practitioners are
not allowed to have pen and paper. The informants also intimidated those who lent practitioners pen
and paper. They also keep daily written records of their "work." In July 2001,
practitioner Mei Aiping documented the persecution situation and asked
some inmates and workers to help mail the letters. The police later intercepted one of the letters.
As a result, worker Li was fired. An inmate was locked up in a maximum-security cell for one month,
and his sentence was extended by one month.
Physical violence:
- On June 19, 2001, Falun Gong practitioners Liu Li and Yu Fei refused to participate in forced marching. Zhang Peixiong, a deputy captain, ordered criminals Chen Shengqiang, Zhu Tianxiang, Zhang Wang-En and Wu Kai to brutally beat up the two practitioners in a workshop. They hit and kicked Yu Fei's lower back and chest so hard that these two areas were severely bruised. Afterwards, his lower back felt so painful that it was difficult for him to turn over in bed. Other criminals who beat Yu Fei include Huang Wuyuan, Yu Lianxi, Hu Xingxian, Zhang Wei and Deng Shixong. At that time, Officer Lei Di saw the incident but turned a blind eye.
- On July 25, practitioners Liu Li, Mei Aiping, Xu Ping, and Yu Fei again refused to participate in the forced march. Captain Zuo Yanjie ordered people to drag the practitioners to a dark place and hit them violently. Liu Li was kicked to the ground. After they pinned him to the ground, several criminals kicked him with all their strength at his lower back. Blood gushed out of his mouth. Three other practitioners were also assaulted. The criminals hit their chests and lower backs, causing excruciating pain. Practitioner Liu Li asked Officer Lei Di why he allowed this torture. Lei did not say a word. The criminals who hit the practitioners were Huang Wuyuan, Zhang Wei, Zhang Wang-En, Wu Kai, Hu Xingxian, Zhu Tianxiang, and Yu Lianxi.
The persecution of the other practitioners:
Wang Jun, 30, is an employee at Wuhan Gas Pipeline Company. On January 1, 2001, he went to
Beijing's Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Gong and was sentenced to one year of forced labor.
During the several months in the 7th Brigade, informants often severely beat him. To protest the
inhuman physical and mental torture, he repeatedly went on hunger strike. Later the police
transferred the extremely frail Wang Jun to another place.
Wu Xinguo, about 30 years old, is a teacher at the Central China Normal University Affiliated
Elementary School. In March 2001, he was sentenced to one year of forced labor and sent to the 7th
Brigade. On May 28, 2001, he started a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. Sixty-eight
days later, he was released on bail. During his hunger strike, he was force-fed everyday. Facing the
most severe persecution by the informants, he calmly endured it. His resolve to uphold Falun Gong
was unshakeable.
