(Clearwisdom.net) Because of practicing Falun Gong, I was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor by the Songyuan City Police Department. On July 24, 2001, I was kidnapped and taken to the Jiutai Forced Labor Camp. In September, I was assigned to Unit No. 1, and then was transferred to the reeducation through labor team in November. I am exposing the crimes of the police's brutal torture of Falun Gong practitioners during the period I was detained in Unit No. 1.
On November 24, 2001, a heavy fog lasted throughout the whole morning, therefore we were not forced to go to work in the camp. Unit No.1 held a meeting, the warden announced an addition of three more months to a detention term of practitioner An Hongbo, who was on a hunger strike at that time. Practitioner Wang Sihui received a record of demerit because he had gone on a hunger strike before. Shortly after the meeting, prisoners beat Wang Sihui. So Wang Sihui made an appeal to Tang Bo, the head of the team. Tang Bo came to the cell to find out about the situation. While he was questioning practitioner Xue Baoping, he became agitated; he then lost his temper. He pulled practitioner Xue back and forth by his collar. Practitioner Wang Deming stepped forward to dissuade him, pleading for Tang not to get angry and to let Xue Baoping finish his words. At this moment, a warden (possibly Sun Jingjun) came up and began to beat Wang Deming and Tang Bo began to beat Xue Baoping. Detainees in the No.2 cell witnessed the whole incident.
Shortly afterwards, deputy team head Li Xiaochun arrived. He took Wang Deming into the corridor and beat and kicked him. All practitioners in the four cells could hear very clearly the abusive words and the sounds of a beating. Later, they dragged the two practitioners to the office, beat them even more violently and shocked them with electric batons. There were a total of nine wardens in Unit No. 1 and seven of those nine beat up the two practitioners Xue and Wang for more than half an hour. The practitioners' mouths and noses were bleeding; their faces were blue and swollen; and their eyes and many places on their body were covered with bruises. Over twenty Dafa practitioners of the Unit No.1 were dismayed upon seeing their fellow practitioners abused in such a manner.
Some time later, practitioner Sun Yue found those officers who were responsible and attempted to expose the incident, but he received no reply. After that, I went to the office and questioned the officers as to why the police beat practitioners. They denied it and claimed that I was framing them. I requested to see Guo, the director of the labor camp. Zeng Fanyi, the head of the unit, responded, "Is the director someone you can see anytime you wish? No way!" Finally, I said if the problem was not resolved, I would possibly protest with a hunger strike. After I returned to the cell, I spoke with practitioners of the same cell for a while and we requested to see warden Meng Fanrong. I decided to start protesting with a hunger strike that noon. The cell head looked for a while and said warden Meng was not there. Later, team head Wang Weidong, the No.2 sub-team head Tang Bo, and No.1 sub-team head Li Chunhui came into the cell. Afterwards, warden Meng also came to the No. 3 cell, and said, "You won't eat. What's the big deal if you all go on a hunger strike? Have we punished you too lightly?!" Most of the practitioners went on a hunger strike that noon. In the afternoon, we went to work as usual. On the second day, the hunger strike continued and we also went to work, carrying things to the rice paddy for the whole morning. In the afternoon, eighteen practitioners of the No.4 sub-team didn't go to work. The reason was that director Guo had agreed that practitioners in Unit No.1 could work half of the day. It became a rule, and was already in effect. In addition, we continued to not eat any meals. It was already physically impossible for us to work for an entire day in the final two days.
Shortly afterwards, warden Li Kai convened with us in the No. 2 cell. Political instructor Meng Fanrong and seven wardens (Meng Fanrong, Zeng Fanyi, Li Xiaochun, Lu Yanhui, Tang Bo, Luu Tianlong, and Wang Weidong), carrying electric batons, fiercely rushed into the No. 2 cell yelling there was still time for those who wanted to work. (They would beat any who continued to refuse to work.) As a result, no one moved. They asked me why I didn't go to work. Before I finished answering, police officer Luu Tianlong started to shock my neck and my face with an electric baton. They thought this torture was too mild. They ordered me to take off my clothes. Li Kai came at me and stripped off all my clothes. A few wardens came up at once and shocked me with four or five electric batons at the same time. After a while, I fell to the ground. When I fainted, I heard warden Lu say, "No problem. Leave him alone. He won't die." They then turned to torture other practitioners.
Later I heard three more practitioners were stripped of their clothes, and were shocked with electric batons and beaten to the ground. They were: An Hongbo, Wang Enhui, and Sun Yue. Over a dozen other practitioners were all shocked, beaten and slapped on the face to some extent. The abusive wardens forced them to go to work and stop the hunger strike. An Hongbo, Wang Enhui and I were tortured more severely. After we fell to the ground, we were electrically shocked, beaten and kicked for over forty minutes. And for me, a few electric batons took turns shocking me or even worse, the wardens shocked me with several electric batons simultaneously . Additionally, they also kept verbally abusing and insulting me.
The wardens who beat and abused me the most were Lu Yanhui, Meng Fanrong, Li Xiaochun and Zeng Fanyi. Lu Yanhui shouted while beating, "I just want to torture you. Even if I did not have this uniform (Note: meaning to be fired), I still would want to torture you. Remember, my name is Lu Yanhui. One day, come find me." Meng Fanrong said, "You are the first to start protesting with the hunger strike and refusing to go to work. This time, I will not only torture you, but also extend your detention terms by eight months. Then transfer you (to another labor camp for additional imprisonment), so you will have no way out." Li Xiaochun said, "This time, we don't need you to go to work. Unit No. 1 doesn't need you. It's a good enough time for us to torture you all." They intentionally shocked the sensitive parts of the body: lips, ears, neck, armpits, nipples, and bellybutton, etc.
After they tortured us for about forty minutes, An Hongbo and Wang Enhui were sent for "strict management," [Note: this usually means, solitary confinement and restriction of movement and privileges] while I was left for further torture. They forced me to stand up. Meng Fanrong placed the electric baton on my lower abdomen and shocked me at that spot for a long time. Li Xiaochun shocked my nipple and bellybutton, etc with an electric baton. About fifteen minutes later, they let me put on my clothes, handcuffed me, and sent me to the strict management cell.
Twenty minutes later, Meng Fanrong called me to the office again. He asked me why I went on the hunger strike. I said, "I do not agree with the additional detention terms given to An Hongbo and Wang Enhui. And I protested the wardens' beating of Xue Baoping and Wang Deming." He then picked up an electric baton, which was just charged, and shocked my neck. He kept abusing me at the same time. Meng Fanrong tortured me even more fiercely and cruelly. Zheng Chan brutally stomped on my face. Wang Weilong pressed on both of my feet, while Li Kai forcibly striped off my clothes with Meng Fanrong. They beat, kicked, and shocked my back and neck for a long time. Then they sent me back to the strict management cell and ordered the cell head to monitor me tightly. They forced me to sit on the torture bench from 4a.m. to 10p.m. During the total 18 hours, I was only permitted to use the bathroom three times.
At dusk of that evening, the team chief Zeng Fanyi came to the strict management cell and tried to persuade Xue Baoping to eat. As he didn't succeed, after he went a few steps back to the office, he suddenly turned back and said, "Why do I hate you so much?" He then beat Xue Baoping. He asked Li Kai to go to the office to fetch the electric baton. Then he electrically shocked him and beat him while he kept on abusing, "Is it up to you to say whether you will eat or not? I am not afraid getting retribution for beating Dafa disciples. I am not scared at all. I do not fear retribution. I just beat you." Xue Baoping's blue and swollen face was worsened, and the edge of his mouth was bleeding. Later, according to himself, he was slapped 40 times on the face alone. At that time, team head Pang Wenbin, and four people in the strict administration cell (Liu Jiantao, Zheng Chan, Liu Yanfeng, Wang Weilong) and Li Kai were present and all witnessed this torture. There were many wounds on his face after the brutal beating. Many parts of his body were in pain and there was blood and pus underneath the skin. A day later, the electrically shocked skin felt extremely itchy and a layer of blackened scab was formed. We went on the hunger strike for one week. I was strictly managed and handcuffed for six days. I couldn't take care of myself with some necessary daily-life activities.
During the time we were strictly administered, Wang Enhui was brutally persecuted though he was not strictly managed. He was nearly fifty-years old. He was on the hunger strike until the noon of November 2nd, which was a total of nine days. He was forced-fed two or three times. However, the wardens had always forced him to work a complete day and not let him take a rest. The wardens inhumanly tortured a fifty-year old man who had not even eaten any food for days in this manner.
The above is a record of the events on October 24 and 25 in Unit No. 1. However, "Coercion Cannot Change People's Hearts." Dafa practitioners are just like the red plum blooming through the severe winters. Practitioners have become more steadfast and determined through the difficulties.
