On February 20, Swedish practitioner Ulrik Dahlgren returned from the trip to Beijing. He participated in the peaceful appeal in Tiananmen Square on February 14, was brutally arrested and put into jail together with Chinese criminals, just because he had a banner that read "Falun Dafa" and because he shouted "Falun Dafa Hao" (Falun Dafa is good) in Tiananmen Square.
The arrest was violent. He was punched and kicked and later he was kicked by policemen with a knee to his lower chest. He still experiences pain in his chest as a result. He demanded to speak to the Swedish Embassy and refused to give his identity until he had gotten a chance to talk to them. The Chinese authorities kept him in jail for 4 days and nights and 10 hours and during most of this time he held a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention.
Two local newspapers, local radio and local TV came to the press conference and Ulrik also gave telephone interviews to the biggest news agency in Sweden and another local TV channel.
Afterwards, practitioners from Kalmar and Gothenburg celebrated the homecoming of Ulrik together with his parents.
