Clarifying the Truth to a Chinese Pen Pal

My pen pal and I have been exchanging emails for about two months now. Recently he visited my web page and saw the part about Falun Dafa (a simple shockwave that shows pictures of practitioners from around the world and a short truth-clarifying message in Chinese and English). He wrote to me repeating what the Chinese government's propaganda says about Falun Dafa, and urged me to stop practicing right away.

Here is the letter I sent to him:

Hi:

I'm glad you wrote me back. I forgot again to scan those pictures for you, so I will do them very soon! I want to find a beautiful picture of my city to show you and a few others.

I am not surprised that you say those things about Falun Dafa, as lots of people in China think that way. It makes me very sad because I know Falun Dafa is good. Both my husband and many of my friends practice Falun Gong like I do. My mother is also very glad that I practice and she also knows about what the Chinese government says about Falun Gong; and she knows that those things are not true.

I know it can be very hard to understand what is the truth and what are lies. I asked the same questions too! But Falun Dafa is only about Zhen-Shan-Ren: Truth-Compassion-Tolerance. I try to be a good person, to be kind to others, friendly too. I feel compassion for all beings, I care for all living things (people, animals, and plants), and I respect others who are different from me (like skin colour or religion). That's what being a Falun Gong practitioner means for me.

I have a lot of Chinese friends. My two best friends are from Hong Kong and Taiwan. They are not practitioners and they asked me what Falun Gong was. They thought it was bad, too, because they heard what the Chinese government had said about it. But when they saw how I was and how we were really good friends, they knew that Falun Gong must be good because I was good. Now, please know that I am not trying to show off!

It is really hard for you to hear the truth about Falun Gong from China because all the websites are blocked. My government has given many, many awards for Falun Gong! May 13th is Falun Dafa Day here in Canada. We have large parades and colourful banners. It's very beautiful and lots of fun! I'm glad we got to talk about this. Please ask me as many questions as you want-- you can trust that I will only tell you the truth.
