(Clearwisdom.net) Boxun.Net published an article on April 26, 2002, which declared: The real reason for the ruling Party's persecution of Falun Gong is a war of morals between the two, manifesting itself in a conflict between a Party's culture represented by "Hypocrisy, Wickedness, Conflict" and the common people's pursuit of a moral lifestyle centered around "Truth, Compassion, Forbearance."
The author wrote that, on the surface, Falun Gong seems to attract many older people because it somehow functions as a "community activity," such as group exercises, which can indeed make the older people happy and content. However, this is a far cry from providing older people with a source of income for their life, and we don't expect to see a lot of practitioners hoping to sustain their lives by practicing Falun Gong. Although Falun Gong can solve some problems for socially disadvantaged groups, its development, however, is not dependent on relieving poor people of their pains with "supernormal capabilities." The greater effect Falun Gong has achieved is providing a basis that "opposes vulgarity and hypocritical morality" in people's hearts, which has filled the moral void that exists amidst the Party's nasty, hypocritical conflicts. Such a spirit-cleansing set of exercises and beliefs has a great appeal for the Chinese people. In the Party's own words that they used in their anti-Falun Gong campaign, "This is a conflict aimed at gaining the people's support."
