PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, this day marks the celebration of Falun Dafa (or Falun Gong), and honors its founder, Li Hongzhi, who introduced this ancient practice of mind and body cultivation in 1992 to the general public, and which has since grown to be practiced by more than 100 million people in over 40 countries worldwide, and
WHEREAS, the benefits of practicing Falun Dafa are numerous and varied, ranging from improved health and newfound energy, to mental clarity, stress relief and peace of mind, reaching beyond the pursuit of health and fitness to the goal of greater wisdom and enlightenment, and
WHEREAS, studies have shown Falun Dafa to have significant effect in disease healing and health promotion, benefiting people both physically and mentally and offering self-refinement of both mind and body.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Pamela B. Kennedy, Mayor of the City of Kalispell, do hereby proclaim May 13th, 2002,
WORLD FALUN DAFA DAY
and that practitioners of Falun Dafa be honored their commitment to the standard of honesty, courtesy, loyalty and unselfishness that are the hallmarks of this ancient tradition.
