With complete disregard to international diplomatic codes of conduct, the Chinese Embassy has meddled in New Zealand's internal affairs. New Zealand's media have widely reported that it was in fact the Chinese Embassy that put pressure on the Auckland International Airport to remove a billboard promoting Falun Gong. Mr. Barry Wilson, an official with the Office of Internal Affairs, Auckland City Committee, said that "Falun Gong is a peaceful and harmonious spiritual movement based on the principle of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. The advertisement in the airport just shows a girl doing meditation alongside the Chinese characters for Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. This message certainly does not harm anybody. It is spineless and contemptible that the airport removed the advertisement."
