[Jilin Province, Nongan County] "610 Office" Arrests Dafa Practitioners
[Note: The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political or judicial systems]
Recently, the Nongan "610 Office" held a brainwashing class in a senior citizens' home in order to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. However, their sign for the class said "law education class," hoping to cover up the violence and brutality that is going on inside the class. The exact number of practitioners being held in the class is currently unknown.
[Nongan County, Jilin Province] Head of the Political Security Office Extorts Nearly One Million Yuan of Practitioners' Money
Liu Shangkuan, the former head of the political security office, has extorted nearly one million Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly salary for an urban Chinese worker] from Dafa practitioners and their families. Because people keep filing complaints to his superiors, the county magistrate transferred him to the economic investigation team. Several days ago, the anti-corruption bureau came to investigate him. The county magistrate called the bureau and said, "You can investigate him in whatever way you want, but don't expose anything and don't give him any punishment. If you expose the problems he has caused, even people in foreign countries will know." Now Liu Shangkuan has been assigned to work in the brainwashing classes held by the county.
[Xiangchen City, Henan Province] Police Torture Practitioner Relentlessly
I had stiff joints and pain throughout my whole body. With hands and feet numb, I walked slowly during my hunger strike last December. Because I was on hunger strike for over 20 days, I was dragged to the management office to be given the "rope tying" torture [The police tie up the practitioner with a thin rope, circle the rope around his neck, and tie his hands behind his back. Then the police use all their strength to tighten the rope], which made my left shoulder severely damaged and increased the pain in my whole body. Up to June of this year, I was still unable to touch cold water, and I had stiff joints and chronic pain in my palms.
The guards even forced me to take part in the "military training" so that they could make me suffer more. Because I walked slowly, I was dragged and pushed. In a few days, my feet became more sore and painful. I could not even eat. One day, because I walked slowly, I was forbidden to enter the dining room. I was left outside under the burning sun. In the afternoon I was restrained and forced fed by several policemen. On the fifth day, I was taken away for "rope tying" again.

Dafa practitioner Wang Weiguo from Qinhuangdao City went to work on July 3, 2002, and while at work he was arrested and sent to a remote place in the Xiaowan area. Wang has been refusing food and water to protest the persecution.

[Wudalianchi City, Heilongjiang province] "610 Office" Sentences Many Practitioners to Jail
On April 23, 2002, at 11 a.m., the "610 Office" in Wudalianchi City arrested practitioners Li Yinghua and Wu Lihong at their workplace and sent them to a detention center.
In less than one week, 18 steadfast practitioners, Zhang Li, Zhang Yanqing, Yang Jijuan, Wu Ruiying, Wang Yueying, Li Guiyun, Li Guirong, Li Shuling, Hanmin, Chen Jin (male), Qiu Diancheng (male), Wang Hongjie, Wang Chunhua, Wang Shuzhen, Gao Shuyun and Zhang Zhongxiao (male), were arrested. Five of them were arrested while distributing Dafa materials in December 2002. They have been sentenced to jail terms: Wang Hongjie for four years, Wang Chunhua for three years, Wang Shuzhen for three years, Gao Shuyun for four years, and Zhang Zhongxiao for three years. Six practitioners were sent to a forced labor camp. Li Yinghua was sentenced to three years, Wu lihong to three years, Li Shuling to three years, Chen Jin to three years, Qiu Diancheng to three years, and Han Min to three years. Han Min was arrested when he went to visit his mother and work in the field. For refusing to give up Falun Gong, he was sentenced to three years of forced labor camp.
In order to cover up their crimes, the authorities secretly transferred Dafa practitioners to the Qiqihar Shuanghe Female Labor Camp, the Suihua Male Labor Camp, and the Harbin No 3 Female Jail on July 24 2002 at 2 a.m.
[Xiangcheng City, Henan Province] School Principal Detained Indefinitely
Han Cuimei, female, 66, retired, was formerly the principal of a school in the suburbs of Xiangcheng. In March 2000 she went to Beijing to appeal. However, she was detained for nine months and fined 2,000 Yuan before being released.
In January 2001 she distributed Dafa materials and was arrested for doing so. She remains detained even now, more than a year and a half later. Because Han Cuimei refused to submit to finger printing, the police put heavy foot shackles on her. On the fifth day of her hunger strike, police told her that if she ate, her shackles would be removed. However, after she agreed to eat, a policeman named Jiang Yourong said they would remove her shackles after the 15th day. On the 11th day Han broke open the shackles herself, but the police put them back on. Han continued her hunger strike for five days, until the police removed the shackles. On July 18, 2001 Han was sent to the Shibalihe Female Forced Labor Camp in Henan Province. During the physical examination, she was found to have symptoms of hypertension and heart disease. The labor camp did not dare to admit her and sent her back. She is currently still being held in the detention center.

[Weifang City, Shandong Province] Authorities Show Slanderous Film
The authorities played a film slandering Dafa in Weifang City from August 29 to September 14. The film was full of lies and fabrications. They organized magistrates, workers and students in colleges and middle schools to watch, attempting to further deceive the people.
A local official is planning to show this slanderous film in the Xiaguang Theater in Shijiazhuang from September 1 to 12. In spite of many advertisements, the general reception from the public is one of disinterest and skepticism.
