On June 4, 2002, the court in Zhoucheng City illegally and secretly sentenced Falun Dafa practitioner Han Yadong to five years in jail without notifying his family members. Han Yadong has been sent to jail in Jinan City, where other practitioners who had been illegally sentenced are detained. Han Yadong is extremely weak as a result of the detention.

Jining practitioner Liu Changyu (male, over 50 years old), has been detained in the Jining Detention Center after he was illegally captured by Guo Hongtao, a police officer, following the Chinese Lunar New Year. Liu has been illegally sentenced to five years in jail.

Facts about Falun Dafa were broadcast over the Dongdaqiao Jail and the brainwashing class in Nongan County. Falun Gong practitioners hung the loudspeakers on the power lines above the brainwashing class. The heart-shaking broadcast lasted over four hours.

At present, 45 Falun Dafa practitioners are being illegally detained in the No.3 Jail in Harbin City. Most have been illegally sentenced to over three years in jail. Those practitioners who have maintained a resolute resistance have been put into a "small cell," where they are watched by six police officers. They are not allowed to eat, drink, or sleep and suffer tremendously. Practitioner Wu Hongzhu's life is in great danger due to the torture in the "small cell." He has been sent to the hospital twice for emergency treatment. Police still have not released him or contacted his family members. In addition, police are blocking the release of all news.

On the evening of July 11, 2002, Beijing practitioner Yu Zhanming was abducted from his home. When he refused to be brainwashed, he was sent to a detention center on July 17, and then to an unknown location for forced brainwashing on August 20.

The "610 Office" in Daqing City launched a large-scale, secret search for Falun Dafa practitioners in early September. As far as we know, practitioners Dai Yi and Yu Guixiang (husband and wife,) Jin Haixia (female), Zhang Yan (female), Xu Fenglan (female), Ai Shaojun, Zhou X (from Jingyuan), and Su Guomei (from Jingyuan, female) have been captured. When abducting Yu Guixiang and Dai Yi, armed policemen broke the window to enter their home. Police stuffed the couple's mouths with towels, tied them up and carried them away.

In late August, the police abducted Ge Guixiang (female), Sun Gang, Liu Guiqin (female), Li Guilian (female), Guo Qinghua, Li Shulian (female), Sui Yumin (female), and others. Several dozen practitioners have been rounded up. We also have lost contact with many practitioners whose whereabouts are unknown. It is said that the "610 Office" considered Daqing City as the focal point [of its search], also focusing on access to Internet sites. Officials have also listed Falun Dafa practitioners' names and attempted to capture them successively. Those who have been abducted to date belong to the first group on the list. The secret search occurred on the evening of September 5. On September 6, police went to many practitioners' homes to harass the families. For those practitioners who had already left home to avoid persecution, the police investigated their social contacts in an attempt to persecute them further.

1. Overwork practitioners without rest.
2. Forcibly brainwash them. Force them to write the so-called "four statements:" statement of guarantee (not to practice Falun Dafa), statement of breaking (with Falun Dafa), statement of regret, statement of denouncement.
3. Carry out a system called "multi-supervision:" five prisoners watch over one Falun Gong practitioner, whose personal freedom is restricted.
4. Put practitioners who are firm in their belief into "small cells" etc.

At the Shibalihe Forced Labor Camp, guards torture Falun Dafa practitioners day and night with ropes, batons and the "tiger bench." In July of this year, the camp established a so-called "Prisoners' Alliance" of drug-addicts, robbers, thieves, prostitutes and repeat offenders.

On the afternoon of July 23, the assistant director of Team No.3 tried to make Falun Dafa practitioners sing songs with political overtones. Practitioners refused. At the direction of the guards, the members of the "Prisoners' Alliance" beat and abused the practitioners from 7:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. next day. They dragged practitioner Hu Tieling into a room, locked the door, twisted her arms and pulled her hair, kicked and beat her. They forced her onto the floor, kicked her head and stepped on her face. Her nose began to bleed severely. They seized her by the throat until she felt dizzy and out of breath, with a sharp pain in her head. Later, when Hu Tieling went to see the guards, she saw the assistant team leader sitting in front of a monitor reviewing what had happened to her. Standing in her bloody clothing, Hu Tieling sternly exposed the evil. The assistant team leader said, "It was the instruction of Director Jia. She gave us the list of names and asked us to do this."

Hu Tieling was very pale and dizzy. She had a headache and vomited whenever she ate. She stayed in bed for a day. The next day, while she was still recovering, the members of the "Prisoners' Alliance" came to her again and blamed her for "pretending to be sick." They forcibly dragged her to the workshop and made her work.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences continues to hold brainwashing classes to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. In August this year, two practitioners were abducted from a scientific research institute in Beijing. Wei had to leave his home to avoid persecution last year. He was arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials and has been sentenced to forced labor "re-education." He Yanhua, a senior practitioner, was abducted at home. At the time, a group of armed policemen were gathered in a vehicle outside her yard. Officers, including several in plain-clothes, illegally entered her home to arrest her. She has been sent to the brainwashing class for nearly a month.

Recently, the Residential Committee of Puhuangyu Residential Area of Fengtai District came to a practitioner's home in an attempt to send him/her to the brainwashing class. The practitioner sternly refused. The practitioner had been illegally sentenced to one year in forced labor camp before.

A new round of persecution is underway in Xicheng District of Beijing. Currently, the Residential Committees of each residential area are harassing Falun Dafa practitioners continuously at their homes, making notes and a list of names of those they visited. The police department claims that the actions are necessary to strengthen "public security" in advance of the opening of the 16^th Communist Party Congress.

Beijing Falun Dafa practitioner Yangzi, along with another practitioner, have been missing since August 6, more than a month ago. Their whereabouts are unknown.
