Why Do We Have Attachments?

Where did our attachments come from? Why do we have them?

One day during the sitting meditation, I came to the following understandings. I wrote them down to share with my fellow practitioners. Please point out anything improper.

After reaching ding (a tranquil state) during the sitting meditation, I found that different universes in my cosmos had degenerated elements. On the most outer surface level, these warped elements appeared as attachments and other degradations. For example, in a universe where all beings are dejected and without vigor, the most superficial display is the feeling of inferiority. In a universe where many beings are egotistical, the most superficial display is arrogance, the mentality of showing off, and the mentality of zealotry, etc.

Our cosmos came from the old universe, and there has been a large amount of degradation throughout the ages. Plus, there are also elements arranged specifically by the old forces. These include things that we have to rectify during the Fa-rectification.

On the other hand, only by letting go of our attachments inside can we break the old forces' arrangements and save the sentient beings in our cosmic bodies. In Touring North America to Teach the Fa, Teacher said, "The higher your level, the more you're responsible for. The higher your level, the more gigantic the cosmic body and the more the sentient beings you represent, and you will be responsible for that domain."

Teacher also said in the same lecture, "I've often said that you need to study the Fa well. Whenever I've met with students at Fa conferences or in other settings, I've always said that you must make Fa-study a priority, and that no matter how busy you are you have to study the Fa."

Only on the basis of studying the Fa well, can we eliminate all attachments, as well as save countless sentient beings inside us and those inside the cosmic bodies we are responsible for.

The above are my personal understandings. Fellow practitioners, please kindly point out anything inappropriate.
