Facts of the Persecution
At the beginning of July, 2003 about 20 Falun Dafa practitioners who were illegally sentenced to forced labor in the Guanshan Labor Camp of Liaoning Province were transferred to a new, unfinished facility. They were forced to do digging, ground leveling, and other such work. During the May "SARS" period, they were forced to do a lot of work making souvenirs. After being transferred to the new place, they were sometimes forced to work from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Villains in the Hunan Provincial Women's Prison who persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners include Zhao Lan, Ao Chunling, Zhang Zhuolin, Wen Xiaoli, Luo Jian, Li Jing, Tang Lu, Deng Cheng, Han Cuiling, and Li Jun. Methods they used to torture Falun Dafa practitioners include having drug addict-inmates or convicted killers monitor the abducted Falun Dafa practitioners 24 hours a day, and encouraging prisoners to extort money from Dafa practitioners. These villains make up regulations at will, physically torture Falun Dafa practitioners, slander Falun Dafa, and curse at Dafa practitioners. Zhao Lan has ordered armed police and specially trained police to torture Dafa practitioners.
News from Around the World
The Central News Agency reported on October 24, 2003, before Canadian Premier Chrétien visited China, that Secretary of Canada's Amnesty International branch, Alex Neve, urged Mr. Chrétien to speak clearly and sternly to China regarding human rights. Neve especially mentioned Canadian Resident Zhang Li's husband, He Lizhi, a Falun Dafa practitioner detained in China. Neve, who called for the rescue of He Lizhi in many situations, said in his speech that he hopes the Premier will declare that the Chinese government's persecution of Falun Gong is unacceptable, and must be immediately stopped. Brutal torture has already caused thousands of people to die in Chinese jails. Member of parliament Scott Reid also openly supported Zhang Li at the press conference.
