Facts of the Persecution
Falun Dafa practitioner Bai Yufu used to be head of security at the Well-Measurement Company under the Daqing Petroleum Management Bureau. He received merit awards for consistently being a model worker the many years he worked there. Because he practiced Falun Dafa, he was harassed constantly by his employer, and was thus forced to retire early. On September 10, 2003, Assistant Secretary of the company Zhao Xinwu, together with ten others, brutally abducted Bai Yufu and brought him to the Hongweixing Brainwashing Class in Daqing. Bai Yufu absolutely refused to cooperate with the evil, and escaped from the brainwashing class with righteous thoughts. Now he has become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being unlawfully arrested at home.
A 63-year-old farmer from Jiubang Village, Guoyuan Township, Huili County, Liangxiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province Gao Guangchong has been unlawfully arrested many times by the police because he practices Falun Dafa. The police extorted nearly 10 thousand Yuan1 from his family, which placed a huge financial burden on his family. On July 13, 2003, police officer Wen Xiaohong as well as others from the Huili County State Security Team went to Jiubang Village to arrest him. They beat Mr. Gao until his head was bleeding and he had passed out. Police sent him to jail, and put handcuffs and angle shackles on him. He is now being detained in the Huili County Detention Center, where he is being inhumanely tortured.
In October, 2002, the police form the Jiamusi Labor Camp started to strictly control steadfastly cultivating Falun Dafa practitioners. They made practitioners get up at 5 a.m., and go through the sitting board2 torture until midnight. If anyone closed their eyes, or if their hands or feet moved, the police would punish the practitioner with ten more minutes of sitting boards for each little move, and also they beat up the practitioner. At the beginning of November, Falun Dafa practitioner Su Yanhua (female, age 56) was brutally beaten by police, and cuffed onto a bed for fifteen days. Su Yanhua had frequent heart attacks while being subjected to this torture. In April 2003, police in the labor camp conducted more severe persecution towards eleven steadfast Dafa disciples, by having both their hands cuffed behind their backs. Many practitioners had heart attacks because of the long period of time that their hands were cuffed behind their backs.

The Truth and People's Hearts
On September 27, 2003, Falun Dafa practitioners in Queensland Province, Australia went to George King Square, in the center of Brisbane, to introduce Falun Dafa to the public, and raise awareness about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China. Group after group of tourists from mainland China stared at us with shock, and frantically said, "Falun Gong! Falun Gong!" Some of them walked up closely to read our poster boards, some accepted our truth-clarifying materials, and VCDs, and said "Thank you! Thank you!" One practitioner explained Falun Dafa is legal, and freely practiced all over the world. One tourist responded, "That is how it should be." Another practitioner chatted with two students from China who were studying abroad, and gave them some advice about how to adapt to life in Australia. He also addressed the Falun Gong issue. They changed their minds, and accepted the truth-clarifying materials and VCDs. They expressed their interest in learning more about Falun Dafa online. A big group of tourists from mainland China watched us practice the Falun Dafa exercises from a distance. One elderly tourist started imitating the movements of the third exercise, going up and down, while the other middle-aged tourists said to the crowd, "Look, that fellow is a Chinese, and the other one is a Westerner!"
Yuan: the Chinese currency. The average monthly salary of an urban worker is 500 Yuan.2
Sitting bench: practitioners are forced to put their hands on top of their laps, with their backs straight all day. This can continue for over fifty days straight. The authorities even limit practitioners' restroom-use time. Because of the long time spent sitting on hard benches, practitioners' buttocks have large sores. Often, practitioners cannot even urinate normally because of the pain.
