Two men traveling across Canada to raise awareness about a controversial self-help technique stopped in Thunder Bay on Thursday.
Falun Gong rose to prominence ten years ago when China banned it and began persecuting those who practise it. Now Falun Gong followers are lobbying other countries to help stop the Chinese government's actions.
Francis Madore and Mansour Sedighi are touring the country trying to draw attention to the issue and Falun Gong itself.
They set up a display and demonstration at Chapters bookstore on Thursday afternoon.
Madore says many people believe Falun Gong is a religion, but he describes it more as a self-help movement.
Sue Bobcorbitt of Thunder Bay also practises Falun Gong.
She says it is very slowly growing in popularity here, with about a dozen practitioners so far.
