State of Colorado Celebrates Its First "Falun Dafa Month" (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On February 24, 2003, the first Colorado "Falun Dafa Month" celebration was held in Denver's Central Park, in front of the State Capitol building.

Colorado Falun Gong practitioner Jim pointed out in his opening speech that Falun Gong and its principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" have a positive influence on society. The Jiang regime's recent escalation of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners should raise concern in every citizen with a sense of justice. He also said that the United States is a country that respects individual freedom and freedom of belief. The earliest immigrants decided to come to America because they wanted to escape persecution on account of their beliefs. Freedom of belief has become an inalienable right of everyone in America. However, freedom of belief should not only belong to people in the Western world. Everyone in the world should enjoy the freedom of belief, including the Chinese people.

Denver City Council Member Mr. Ed Thomas gave a brief speech.

"New Tang Dynasty" TV Station interviewed city council member after the celebration. Mr. Ed Thomas said that in a short period of ten years, over 100 million people have come to practice Falun Gong, and practitioners benefit both physically and mentally. American people from all walks of life have begun understanding Falun Gong positively and recognizing Falun Gong and its benefits to society. He emphasized that more similar activities would enable more people to learn the facts about Falun Gong.

Dr. Xia from the nearby city of Boulder, as a friend of Falun Gong practitioner Charles Li who was recently arrested in China, gave a speech. He called for American people from all walks of life to extend their help to rescue Charles Li.

President of "Friends of Falun Gong" at Denver University also gave a speech. He pointed out that "Friends of Falun Gong" would not stop its appeals and protests so long as the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners continues.

With the help of "Friends of Falun Gong," the Falun Dafa photo exhibition "A Peaceful Journey" was held at Denver University from February 24 to 27. Colorado Falun Gong practitioners planned several free sessions to introduce Falun Dafa to the public in many surrounding cities as part of the first "Falun Dafa Month" celebrations.
