[Changchun, Jilin Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Lan Lihua and Liu Mingwei Are In Critical Condition From Torture Received in Changchun Female Prison
Lan Lihua, female, was arrested in July 2002. She has been on hunger strikes several times to protest the illegal detention and to demand unconditional release. She was force fed many times which caused severe damage to her stomach and esophagus so that, in the end, she is unable to eat. When she was sent to the police hospital, she was in shock and her blood pressure was undetectable. She was then transferred to the Second Hospital of Medical University for resuscitation. She has been depending on the intravenous fluid to maintain her life. The police informed her parents to bring her home when her life was in danger. Her family was very poor and could not afford the expensive hospital costs.
On October 22, 2002, Liu Mingwei was sent to Changchun Female Prison and the police tried to force her to write a statement promising to quit practicing Falun Gong. She went on a hunger strike to protest. The police force-fed her with a mixture of salt and corn paste. Having failed several times, they took turns attacking her. They asked an inmate named Yi to hold her. Yi vigorously shoved a mop into Mingwei's mouth. This caused Mingwei develop many blisters in her mouth and her body is very weak. Mingwei's life is in danger now.
[Shuangcheng city, Heilongjiang Province] Handicapped Falun Dafa Practitioner Zhang Shengfan Was Arrested Four Times Before Being Murdered
On December 27, 1999, Zhang was illegally arrested and sent to Shuangcheng Second Detention Center and was released on March 24, 2000.
On July 8, 2000, Zhang was illegally arrested to the above detention center again and was released on December 4, 2000. Police Zhang Guofu extorted 2000 Yuan and police Chen Peile extorted 260 Yuan from him. [Yuan, Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan.]
On January 18, 2001, the police sent him to a brainwashing center in Wenlu Middle School and released him on March 12, 2001.
On June 9, 2001, he was illegally arrested for the fourth time and was detained at Shuangcheng First Detention Center. Zhang died on June 12 in the detention center.
Zhang's brother came from Shuangcheng to Harbin in order to gain justice for him and has spent over 10,000 Yuan.

Liu Shan, a 33 year old male teacher at the Department of Japanese at Dalian Foreign Language Institute, was illegally arrested in July 2001 and sent to a forced labor camp.
Guo Yunfei, a 24 year old female student of Class 99 at Dalian Foreign Language Institute, was arrested around September 2001 and has been detained at Dalian Forced Labor Camp.
Wang Qiang, a 27 year old male student of Class 96 at Dalian Foreign Language Institute, was sent to a forced labor camp in the spring of 2000.
Wang Tao, a 28 year old male graduate from Northeast Economics University, was illegally sent to a forced labor camp in Beijing in 2001.
Teng Houxue, a 28 year old male graduate from Dalian Marian University, has been missing since the beginning of 2002.

Wang Guiying, a 46-year-old female, left home in March 2002 to avoid the persecution. She went home in November 2002 and was arrested by policeman Tang Wenming on February 28, 2003. She has been detained at Kuanpingdalu Police Station. Her husband Zhang Guibiao was illegally sentenced to three years in Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp.

[Fushun City, Liaoning Province] The "610 Office" Establishes a Brainwashing Center Again
At the beginning of this March, Liaoning Province "610 Office" [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches] established a central brainwashing center in Luotan Shanzhuang, Fushun City in order to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. They transferred practitioners here from Wujiabao Forced Labor Camp in Fushun City and forced each practitioner to pay 3000 Yuan each month.
The person in charge of sending arrested practitioners to the brainwashing center is Wu Wei, the former head of the squad in Wujiabao Forced Labor Camp. Around this New Year's Day, Wu Wei received awards from the government officials for his persecution of Falun Gong.
It is said that on July 20, 1999, the police arrested Zhan Rui, the head of Fushun City Falun Dafa Assistant Center and detained him at Luotan Shanzhuang. Zhan was persecuted to death within two days.
During the Spring Festival, the police in Wujiabao Forced Labor Camp tortured female practitioners Ji Yaxuan and Yan Guifen with forced feeding and injections. The practitioners were on a hunger strike in order to protest the persecution.
[Weifang City, Shandong Province] The Torture of a Mother and Son in Weifang Detention Center
Yue Xia and her son Yue Ping are Falun Dafa practitioners from Weifang. They had been homeless since October 2000, in order to avoid the persecution and were arrested at the end of October 2002. Yue Xia left her over 80 year old mother-in-law and a younger son at home. The mother-in-law has difficulty walking and taking care of herself. Currently, mother and son are detained at Weifang Detention Center and suffering physical and mental tortures. Yue Ping was handicapped from a childhood injury to his arm and now has become very thin from the persecution in the detention center.
[Chongqing City] Falun Dafa Practitioner Qin Li From Jiangbei District Is Arrested
Qin Li, a 40 year old female with a daughter in high school, is retired. Qin Li used to suffer from hyperthyroid disease and could not afford any treatment since she could not work. Fortunately, she started to practice Falun Gong and became healthy again. It was the benevolent Teacher who gave her the second life.
In mid February 2003, Qin Li found a job in real estate. In the afternoon of February 26, she showed a customer a house that was owned by a female Falun Gong practitioner named Li Guangjing. During the Spring Festival, Li had gone to explain the truth about Falun Gong in the countryside and was noticed by the police. The police were waiting for Li but caught Qin as soon as she opened the door. At 4 p.m. on the same day, more than a dozen police rushed to Qin's work unit and searched every corner of the building including her boss's bedroom. The next day, the police broke into Qin's rented apartment. These police all came from Jiangbei Police Branch.
On February 27, Zhang Chao, a teacher from Chongqing City Committee Communist Party School, was illegally arrested for distributing Falun Gong materials. Recently, the police confiscated his house and took his personal property including a computer.
At the end of February, practitioner Zhu Bilan was illegally arrested.
[Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] The Crimes of "610 Office" Director Yin Yuzhen
Yin Yuzhen has been directing Shang Yunhang, the Chief of Politics and Security Section in the city's police department, to illegally arrest many Falun Dafa practitioners. Since July 20, 1999, more than 200 practitioners were sent to the detention center, more than 90 to the forced labor camp, seven were sentenced to the prison, and more than 50 were sent to the brainwashing center. Moreover, the township governments and the local police stations illegally detained, beat, and fined more than 1000 practitioners. They force every practitioner (even anyone who has only practice one day) to write a "guarantee" (to not practice Falun Gong) and to pay fines.

At the beginning of March, a practitioner explained the truth about Falun Gong in a market. A young guy said he wanted more VCDs after already taking one and made an appointment to meet the practitioner again. Then, this guy alerted the police to the appointment and the police came and arrested the practitioner. The practitioner was released after being detained for three days. Recently, there have been quite a few similar incidents.

Xie Xiugai, a 44 year old female, was arrested before October 1, 2002. She was brutally tortured by the police and now we do not know her whereabouts.
[Qiongshan City, Hainan Province] Four Falun Dafa Practitioners Have Been Detained For Over a Year
In 2001, Qiongshan City Police Department arrested Falun Dafa practitioners Sun Yingqin, Zhong Hui, Yuan Xiuli (female), and Chen Haiming for hanging Falun Dafa banners. They have been detained at Qiongshan Detention Center for over a year and were illegally trailed on February 26, 2003.
During the detention, Chen Haiming vomited blood several times and had symptoms consistent with pulmonary inflammation and edema. The police became scared and sent him for probation after extorting 2000 Yuan from his family. However, two months later, they arrested him again and brought him back to the detention center on orders from higher authorities. Haiming's condition is poor and he continues to vomit blood. Yet the police still refuse to release him.

[Donggang City, Liaoning Province] A Recently Released Falun Dafa Practitioner Is Arrested Again
Soon after being released from Dandong City Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province, a practitioner was followed by the police again in his town of Gushan in Dandong City. This practitioner was forced to leave home and lived in a cave for two months. On February 28, the local residents reported him to the police. More than thirty policemen came and surrounded the cave where they illegally arrested him.

Since July 20, 1999, Yu has been extremely active in the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. Because of his "merits" in persecuting practitioners, he was promoted to the Party Secretary of Shuncheng District Politics and Law Committee. With more power, he became more lawless -- he could arrest and release anyone at will. He often goes to Wujiabao Forced Labor Camp to inspect and supervise. He also often leads the police to practitioners' homes and work units to arrest them illegally. Under his orders, police from Shuncheng Police Station broke into practitioner Hou Shufang's home and attempted to arrest her. Hou died as result of the persecution.
[Jilin Province] Several Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Illegally Sentenced to Forced Labor
Zhang Liquan, a 39 year old male teacher from the Normal College of Beihua University in Jilin Province, has been illegally detained many times and has suffered from various brutal tortures. He was sentenced to one year and five months of forced labor.
Zhang Shu, a 45 year old male, and Wang Dongji, a 20 year old male, are both natives of the town of Songjiang in Jiaohe City. They were illegally sentenced to forced labor for one and three years respectfully for going to Beijing to appeal for Dafa.

Zhou Hua, a 34 year old female, was the Vice Director of the Second English Study Section of the Foreign Language Department at Harbin Industrial University. She has a record of excellent performance at work. At the end of 2000, she was illegally arrested and sent to the notorious Harbin Wanjia Forced Labor Camp. Before the Chinese New Year, my colleague and her whole family joined a tourist group for a trip to Hong Kong and several southern Chinese cities. After she came back, I asked what had she seen in Hong Kong. She said that they never went to Hong Kong. The entire group's trip to Hong Kong was cancelled because one of the members of the group had the same name as a Falun Gong practitioner in Hong Kong. How many people are involved in the persecution of Falun Gong?
