Falun Gong practitioners from Shijiazhuang Refinery have been suffering from the persecution for a long period of time: The Refinery illegally detained Dafa practitioners, who had been to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, for several months. They have also violently beaten and verbally abused them. In the beginning of November 2000, the Sifang police station of the Refinery forcibly arrested five practitioners and sent them to the provincial fascist brainwashing center. On November 7, police officers from the Public Security Sub-Bureau in the Changan District and security personnel from the Refinery thrust themselves into practitioner Jian Youlian's home and ransacked it. They extorted 5000 Yuan (about 10 months' salary of an average urban worker in China) from Jian as the "fine" and house arrested Jian Youlian for six months.

The Nanhu Forced Labor Camp in Anhui Province, which detains male Dafa practitioners, runs itself like a fascist concentration camp. Within the camp, a newly constructed center called the sixth brigade has been set up for the sole purpose of performing forced brainwashing. The director of the Sixth Brigade, Ma Lei is extremely vicious and insincere. Zhu Qinghua has also participated in committing crimes against practitioners. Practitioners who are not transformed (namely, those who don't renounce their belief) are not allowed to meet with their family members. Sadly, the family members who come to visit the detained practitioners are forced to verbally abuse Dafa and Teacher in order to meet them.

The "610 Office" [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches] and the County Detention Center from the Hantai Town, Xinle City, Hebei Province utilized economic measures in order to induce people to commit sins and instigate hatred: The vicious police officers and personnel from the "610 office" performed forced-brainwashing almost everyday towards Dafa practitioners. They abducted and detained practitioners and extorted money from them. Meanwhile, they extensively involved practitioners' relatives in the case so as to use the family members' and neighbors' misunderstandings against practitioners. They also used immediate interests to beguile common people to step towards the sinful abyss.

Hong Kong practitioners' urgent declaration: We would like to remind fellow practitioners from Mainland China and overseas to cut off dealings with Wang Yaoqing (female) who claims herself a Hong Kong practitioner. She is not a cultivator and has done many obvious bad deeds to try to damage Dafa and harm practitioners. Wang actively participated in public activities, but still was able to freely go back to China with her real name. While being abroad, Wang attempted a few times to incite local practitioners to do some irrational and impetuous things that would challenge the law. She also used different excuses in order to defraud practitioners of large sums of cash. The information that Wang gathered and her actions have close affiliation with the Mainland's police. She also used different ways to try to find out information regarding the TV interception. Upon investigation, Wang Yaoqing cannot avoid her responsibility for Harbin Dafa practitioner Wang Yongcheng's death of torture. Now, Wang Yaoqing is unable to find any support from abroad. She therefore recently planned to go back to the Mainland.

Explain the facts to my nephew who is a college student: In this year's spring festival when our family reunited, my nephew's mother had just passed away. I therefore encouraged my nephew to think more about the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and asked him to recite, "Falun Dafa is good" whenever he encounters hardship. However, my brother thought that what I had said sounded a bit inconceivable. I was not discouraged though. Instead, I tried to look within and realized that I could explain it to them in a more detailed manner. A few days later, our family got together again. This time, I told my nephew that our Teacher said: "In the future there will then be many experts and scholars whose wisdom will be broadened through the Buddha Fa. They will become the new mankind's pioneers in different fields of learning." I encouraged him to become a pioneer as well. My nephew nodded his head with agreement. My mother then told him: "In 2001, our family encountered big tribulations -- your younger aunt and her husband were detained in detention centers. Your elder aunt was dissolving karma. And your parents were trying to get a divorce. I, your grandma did not want to live anymore. It was all because we learned Dafa, and carry the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" in our hearts, that we were able to get through that hardship." My husband also explained to him the truth about the self-immolation. My nephew accepted all of what we discussed.

According to a report from Voice of America, The World Health Organization (WHO) warned that a mysterious pneumonia is rapidly spreading. Officials from an international sanitation organization worried that an unknown type of pneumonia, originally found in Asia, could rapidly spread to the entire world via infected tourists. It is reported that international medical treatment experts are currently trying their best to control the spread of this infectious disease that has caused at least 9 deaths to date and is proving resistant to antibiotic treatment.
