Truths About the Persecution

Dafa practitioner Ms. Ding Xiaoxia in Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor, but her term was extended by one-year because she refused to be brainwashed. In March 2002, she was kidnapped and sent to the Dongji Police Station, where the vicious police officers stripped off her coat and poured cold water on her. They also shocked her with electric batons. Later, at the Longshan Police Station Brigade, the vicious thugs put very thin needles into her fingers and around her neck [these needles are extremely thin and leave no marks on the skin but they can cause intolerable pain] and they tortured her with the "tiger bench¹." In September 2002, she was illegally sentenced to seven years in prison and was transferred to the Changchun Women's Jail where she was brutally tortured and subjected to high-pressure brainwashing.

After the Chinese New Year 2003, thugs from Qitaihe City's Police Department in Heilongjiang Province arrested a dozen Dafa practitioners. In early March, police surrounded Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Guihua and also three other practitioners in their rented room. Liu Guihua and another practitioner jumped out the window and escaped. In late March, Ms. Liu Guihua suddenly disappeared and her husband, also a Dafa practitioner, was illegally sentenced to forced labor and was detained at the Suihua Labor Camp.

Around March 20, Dafa practitioner Yu Qinghai suddenly disappeared.

Zhang Xiuxin, a professor in the Department of Philosophy at Linyi Teachers' College persisted in his practice of Falun Dafa. After July 20, 1999, he was held in criminal detention three times and once under "security detention." He was removed from his teaching position, his salary was cut off and he was transferred to the "security division." He was under constant watch. After July 20, 1999, he was given only around 180 Yuan a month "living fee." His home phone was tapped and his personal freedom was further restricted. In 2001, he was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor.

A true story of persecution in Xingyi City, Qianxinanzhou, Guizhou Province:

Practitioner Zuo Yuanbi was illegally sentenced to ten years in prison in August 2002 and is currently detained in the Beimen Detention Center in Xingyi City. Practitioner Ms. Shi Zuohui was arrested during the Chinese New Year 2002 and was illegally sentenced to five years in prison. She is currently being held in the Qianxinanzhou Detention Center. Practitioner Mr. Xie Guohua was arrested around December 2001, and his whereabouts are unknown. Practitioner Ms. Wang Yuhe was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor and was sent to Guizhou Province's Female Labor Camp. Practitioner Mr. Zuo Dezhi was arrested around November 2002, and was released after his family paid 8,000 Yuan. Practitioner Ms. Wu Chengyan was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor and was sent to the Guizhou Province Female Labor Camp.

The thugs at Nanmusi's Female Labor Camp in Zizhong County, Sichuan Province brutally torture Dafa practitioners: every day they force Dafa practitioners to curse Dafa and Master; they force the practitioner to do heavy manual labor but don't give them enough food; they force-feed the practitioners with poison and cold water; they don't allow the practitioners to wash themselves and have not allowed the practitioners to take a shower for the past six month; they don't allow the practitioners to use the restroom on a regular basis; they force the practitioners to stand against the wall or squat for a long time; they handcuff practitioners on trees and windowsills and don't allow them to sleep, 24 hours a day.

On March 12, officers from the Lincheng County Police Department arrested Dafa practitioners Wang Wenqing and Zhang Surong from Lincheng County, Hebei Province when they clarified the truth to people. On March 14, these two practitioners were sent to Xingtai City's Brainwashing Center.

Practitioners Exchange Insights

Recognize illusions and give up the attachment to sentimentality. The principles in the human world are all reversed. While we all live in it, it's easy for us to be deceived. The things ordinary people consider blessings are precisely the things that make us develop attachments. Things that were originally blessings, including capabilities, social status, beauty, talents, those are also the greatest hindrances for practitioners when trying to give up attachments. There are too many illusions in the human world. Only when we realize that all of these are unimportant things, that are not ours to keep, can we then remain unmoved and give up attachments. In fact, the old forces had arranged all of these, according to every practitioner's heart, in order to expose our attachments. But if our hearts remain unmoved, we can break away from the old forces' arrangements and can turn around and use them to validate the Fa.

The Truth and People's Heart

Master saved my life. When Dafa spread in the country, my wife and I studied Dafa together. After the evil persecution began, out of fear, I stopped studying. One day I picked up a truth clarification card and cherished it. I put it inside my inner pocket along with my money. Three days later, I was driving at night and my car fell into a four-meter (approximately 12 feet) deep hole on the side of the road, but neither my car nor I was bruised. I said to everyone I met, that if it had not been for the truth clarification card and Master's protection, I would have died!

I did well in my business and earned some money, but I kept losing money. Before this year's Chinese New Year, my daughter pulled out a quilt and the 1,000 Yuan I sewed into the quilt fell out and my neighbor's child picked up the money [note: 500 Yuan is the average monthly salary for an urban worker in China]. I was furious and desperate and thought about suicide. Suddenly, I remember Master saved me from a car accident and I went home and sat in the meditation posture. I put my hands together and said, "Master, you saved me. If it is meant to be my money, I won't lose it. If it's not mine, I won't panic about it." Early the next morning, the neighbor's child gave me back the 1,000 Yuan, and I was very happy. Master's benevolence awakened my whole family and we again stepped onto the path of cultivation.

News From Abroad

On March 24, Dafa practitioners in Calgary, Canada gathered in front of the local Chinese consulate to protest the Chinese government's arrest and trial of U.S. citizen Charles Li. Dafa practitioners in other parts of Canada also held similar activities in front of Chinese consulates, including the one in Ottawa.

1) Tiger Bench: Practitioners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately 20 cm (6 inches) tall, with their knees tied together. With their hands tied behind their backs or sometimes placed on their knees, they are forced to sit with their backs straight and look straight ahead. They are not allowed to turn their heads, close their eyes, talk to anyone or move at all. Several inmates are assigned to watch over the practitioners and force them to remain motionless while sitting on the bench. Usually some hard objects are inserted underneath the practitioners' lower legs or ankles to make it harder for them to tolerate this abuse.
